About Me |
|
Ahasverus project is a one man act by Henrik Summanen, Sweden. Themain aim is to understand and explore the dark side of music. Foundation - Ahasverus act III This is the third manifestation of the Ahasverus act. The wine which through the eyes we drink The US edition (lim 100)of Foundation is released by
Black Goat Records
And the European edition (lim 100) by Ahasverus Records
Title: Foundation - Ahasverus act III When Dr. Ignazio Roiter found out that a woman in an italian family
suddenly lost her ability to sleep completely, the established researchers
didn..t believe him. The doctor found after a while that she was suffering
from a very rare genetic disease that put the sleeping center in the
brain out of use. The patients get more and more changed in personality,
after half a year they are hard to communicate with, and after months
they die. The gentic disease, called Fatal Familial Insomnia, has
an inevitable end in death.

"Ahasverus' third major work continues stilistically from where the divine Evocation (2006) left off, but is somewhat lighter. It is incredibly well building dark, beautiful ambient, the changes in which you can often anticipate, yet they're still repeatedly admirable. The production-style is quite robust and the tracks flow nicely into one another even as they all stand alone as individual parts of the whole. At a couple of times the techniques used are rather superficial, yet those too are eventually turned into an advantage for the total work. Take a significant portion of strongest-era Lustmord (which this really quite often resembles, even a bit too much), add in a dash of Atrium Carceri, and you get a good idea of what this sounds album like. Yet it's nevertheless quite original, and definitely a compositional work. The sole real weakness of Foundation is that Henrik Summanen has himself set his bar with Evocation so high, that this time he simply can't rise to the level of that masterpiece.
"Thus the album has a strong physical and organic feel, and it flows with such a coherent palette of sound that there is no point in separating individual tracks from the whole. One exception, the fifth track Shesphergisti, does fail to fit into the whole with its distant melodies and bells. Apart from that, I have nothing but praise for a record that flows so beautifully and has such a real and physical sound world. Definitely one of this year´s highlights and a record which many "ambient" musicians could learn from."
"Evocation" is a highly charged emotion filled release that really needs to be experienced first hand. The sounds that Henrik has created are an absolute and total pleasure for those who hanker for the darker side of sonic manipulation. An unqualified success that you can download from his website yourself. Audio purists and collectors would be best advised to purchase the full product directly from him. The costs are minimal but the rewards even greater. If only other DIY labels would follow his lead."
Available at CD Baby $ 12.97
"This is an album definitely worth noticing, especially for friends of drone-based music."
"Ten is the number gives an interesting insight into the mind of this musician. Hes tackled the well worn ambient genre with aplomb and although not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination this is a qualified success for trying a different musical direction. Dark ambient purveyors will most definitely enjoy the experience that "Ten is the number" invokes. Anyone interested in sound manipulation should also give this a look in. A master has died |
|
| Ingmar Bergman died today. 89 years old.
He was a great director.
Tonight I drink for him, and to his demons.
