| Markus Dohelsky aka Shanti Roots der seit Anfang der Neunziger Bestandteil der Wiener Dub und Elektronik Szene ist, veröffentlichte 1997 sein erstes Album „Subcodex“, das Dub, Downtempo und Drum ‚n’ Bass gelungen vereinigte. 2002 folgte dann der Wechsel zu den vienna scientists, wo auch die international erfolgreiche 12“ „Afrique“, ein kompaktes „Floor Rocker“ Manifest, erschien. Daraufhin entstanden zahlreiche Tracks für die Black Coffee Compilations (ecco chamber) sowie Remixe auf Labels wie Jubilee Records und Sunshine. Während die eigenen Produktionen eher dem Genre Downtempo/Groove zuzuordnen sind, tendieren Markus Dohelskys Remixe eindeutig Richtung Dancefloor (funkey Breakz, House). So sind auch die Liveacts eine Mischung all dieser Styles. Diese Variabilität wird auch bedingt durch ein in seiner Besetzung sich ständig änderndes Liveset: Zu diesem zählen die stilistisch so verschiedene MCs wie z.B. die Brasilianerin Joyce Muniz oder dem in London lebenden Jamaikaner Brother Culture, weiters Luis Ribeiro (BRA) an den Percussions und Stoney the Flute. | |
