About Me
NEW AMH MySpace-MUSIC PAGE! SEE LINK BELOW! ......Hi! My name is Anne-Marie Helder, Anne to friends!!! And I'm a singer-songwriter based here in the UK. I play all over the country and all over Europe & beyond; I hope to play everywhere!!! I started out in bands and have now launched my career as a solo artist. I play my own songs, to crowds in all kinds of places - from small funky cafes to huge hanger-sized rock venues!Most recently I've been on tour with FISH, supporting the band as they stormed their way across Europe! I also have supported Midge Ure, Limehouse Lizzy, Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), Paul Young, Aynsley Lister, and loaaaaads more... It's not just supports though; I also play my own shows, headlines, and play as many singwriter & showcase nights as I can across London & the UK ~ I never cease to meet the most amazing musicians there, and often, ones who are on the verge of exploding into the bigtime - like me! ;o)You can see more about me at www.annemariehelder.com, where you can also buy my cd...My music, like anyone's, is hard to describe... but my influences are vast, from rock to jazz, classical to soul, and everywhere in-between... what comes out of the melting-pot is often hugely-emotional, passionate stuff, 'cos that's me... and among loads of comparisons that we musicians unavoidably get, some of the most fitting are probably those that link me to Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush, Imogen Heap, Led Zep (!), Bjork, Eddi Reader, Nick Harper, Joni Mitchell of course... Eva Cassidy, Carole King, and Alanis Morisette!!! Maybe you get the kinda thing from there. My Interests
Astrology!!! Astronomy!!! - I just got a fantastic telescope for my birthday!!! :o) ...Animals of all kinds... especially dolphins... ...People, of all kinds... ...Peace, at all times... ...and wine, at many times!!!Also I do lotsa keeping fit & walking (it's good for your body, but also your mind... especially 4 any creative soul! -Keeps it from going mad, every day!)I also used to be a keen artist, oil/acrylic paints, pastels, sculpture, & the like.. which I will get back into one day, when my music career allows me some gaps! I'd love to display work in a gallery one day.Poetry too... goes without saying really, when you're a lyricist... but some things are just right on their own, without music even. So one day, a book or ten of these would be awesome to publish, too! I never stop writing, since I was a child. :o.

Music: See above! I listen to everything though... too much to try & list here right now! Come back later & I'll have got my list going! Might have to do it alphabetically!
Movies: I love films. More keen on people films than action shoot-em-ups... but I also like heavy, weird movies with interesting themes... Some faves include The Truman Show (I studied philosophy at Uni and this film covers so many of the theories!); Apocalypse Now; Mission To Mars (I love everything about it, esp. the end); Rebel Without a Cause; It's A Wonderful Life; 7even; American Beauty (anything with Kevin Spacey in); Sixth Sense (& anything paranormal); Good Will Hunting (& anything with Robin Williams in!).... oh I don't know, there's too many to mention. That's without even the classics - for one thing I'm a massive Hitchcock fan, and adore 'The Rope' for its real-time suspense genius!There are too many to even contemplate. I love great films!!!(I can't watch Steven Sea-Gull unless I'm on gas & air and can laugh my butt off ;o)
Television: I don't have time for too much TV, but I like to catch things like 'CSI' if I can, also 'Medium' is excellent (spot the supernatural theme emerging, I'm unashamedly spiritual in my beliefs!).... I tried to watch 'Lost' but I kept missing episodes b'cos I was gigging, so got literally... lost! I really liked 'Without A Trace' when it was on. -There's some great drama on these days, some great stuff coming from the states which is lovely to see!I end up watching loads of late-night tv, which comes with the job... from the Learning Zone to random b-films... and learn some bits of languages and applied physics while I'm at it! (that's if you can get away from 'Reality Family-Swap Rowing Live'! ;o)I love comedy too, and can't stay away from my favourites like The Office, Alan Partridge, relative oldies like Frasier & Cheers too, plus Brasseye and The Day Today... real classics like Fawlty Towers, and new finds like Catherine Tate, who rocks.Sometimes I get sucked into girly rubbish too: my guilty pleasures include America's Next Top Model, any ones where they're being match-made or having huge make-overs, and also... any house makeover programmes or property shows, like Location Location Location!! Aaargh, my secret's out! (I used to want to be an architect for a while, and still love everything about it and property.. think I may become a property tycoon when I've made some millions! ;o)On sky tv I'll often watch music performance shows... you can stumble across so much great stuff these days, across the spectrum... Though when you play all the time, it's really nice to escape it sometimes!
