About Me |
|
| Music has always been at the center of producer, drummer, percussionist, and vocalist James C. Rouse’s (Biscuit) world. In fact, his passion for music along with his natural musical ability have taken him all over the world. He has played drums on tours and spot dates with Gerald Veasely, Karen Bernod, Triad, Kelis, Lady Alma, Bilal, Kelly Clarkson, Glenn Jones, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Leon Ware, J.T. Taylor from Kool and the Gang, Chubby Checker, Jazmine Sullivane as well as many local acts and shows in the Tri- State area, thus allowing him to exhibit a wide range of performance and musical ability. In 2000 he was the Philadelphia 76er’s house band drummer. From Jan. 2001- June 2004 James became a Music Teacher for the School Board of Philadelphia as a General Music, Band, Orchestra, Jazz and Choir Director. With focused interest in drums, percussion, and voice, his skills have carried him from The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) as a vocal/instrumental major, to Westminster Choir College and to Temple University where he earned a degree in Jazz Performance. His skill as a singer and a percussionist, along with rich touring experience, has added strength and character to the fabric of his musicianship. But the real beauty of his work can be found in his drumming; where his rhythmic beats, filled with steady soul, are translated into liquid energy both on stage and in the studio. These elements, along with the sharpened edge of top schooling, make James a valuable asset to any production. In addition to studio work, performing, and teaching, James is currently playing drums for Jazz bassist Gerald Veasley and finishing his first ep on Defected Records. | |
