I stand against: never ending ads on digital TV, sunburn, Zane Lowe, morning radio (if Hell's lifts had muzak it would be Chris Tarrants cunting voice), mornings in general (I'm a night bird). Movies:The French Connection, Chinatown, Apocalypse Now, Jaws, Trainspotting, City of God, Dr Strngelove...all spring to mind when someone asks what my favourites are. There are millions more. I like dark humour and there's nothin wrong with a bit of good old violence. I can be a sucker for sentiment as well. I like William Friedkin, Wong Kar Wai, Sam Pekinpah, Scorsese, Coppola, Luc Besson, Jack Nicholson (especially as Billy 'Badass' Buddusky), Christian Bale, Tarantino, Staley Kubrick, Uma Thurman, Ed Norton, Robert Duvall as Col Kilgore (one of the best performances ever), Andy Lau and Tony Leung, Coen Brothers, David Lynch, Ridley Scott, what I've seen of Todd Solondz (despite the cum flying everywhere), Gene Hackman as Popeye Doyle, undercover cop films, realism, Monica Belluci and Vincent Cassell, Spinal Tap, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill! Blade Runner, John Turturro. I don't care much for namechecking obscure directors, even if I don't like them, to sound cool. |
