About Me |
|
| Alejandro Morse began his sound expeditions shortly after having developed one of the prominent minimal techno projects in the country; presently the projects mentor drifts towards different styles, ranging from experimental ambient and drone music to noise and field recordings. He has presented his work in various festivals and spaces designed to further sound art and experimental music, such as Mutek Mx, FIAC, CHROMA, OPA, CANTE, Audiorama, and the Sound Forum at the Tamayo Museum. He was part of the Igloo Música roster, with whom he shared several live shows and later edited a piece in the Poemas Tonales de Invierno compilation; he also worked alongside other artists in the Sound Landscapes project, a series of events dedicated to promote multimedia art and experimental music in various cities. Furthermore, he participated in the cultural activities organized by the University of Social Studies of Toulouse, France. Alejandro Morse is Co-founder of Umor-Rex (Rex is for Records), label devoted to alternative and experimental music. NEWS __The new album: Obelisks is available now on Umor-Rex: "A new and intriguing conceptual background (with tracks dedicated to the likes of Carl Jung and David Bohm) and a whole new approach to sound and composition create a considerable leap from Landscape Memories, Alejandro Morse's previous effort, to Obelisks, his latest album. A very different region of the soul is being tapped here, or another kind of mental phenomenon is being targeted for inspiration. Gone are the chilling open spaces of the previous album; Obelisks offers a claustrophobic condensation of drones and pulses, carefully constructed into disquieting patterns of paranoia amidst a suggested post-industrial landscape. The sense of time and dynamics also marks a departure, with some of the tracks slowly racing and building into a sustained beam of intensity... consciousness expansion by way of accumulated oscillations. “Five (for Robert Ader)” even flirts with the rhythmic language of micro-house, if only to disturb it with carefully timed disruptions and aural hallucinations. This track also crystallizes all of the album's ambitions into a mesmerizing mystery ride through an ambiguous space-time continuum where field recordings have been smashed into elemental particles of phosphorous beauty, dripping on the chemist's matrix... and an obsessive horn connects times real and fictional, past and future, into one single moment of sensuous abstraction. Bold stuff, this."__review Eduardo Padilla. www.umor-rex.com __Alejandro Morse`s track Psychic Readings appears in the No. 11 compilation from Thirteensongs.net.
