Amongst the homogenized landscape of metal bands, Forged in Flame have come forward to challenge the genre's typical formula. Mixing equal parts 70s progressive rock, 80s thrash metal and current stoner rock, they prove that heavy music can still be catchy. Formed in late 2007, Forged in Flame consists of Gary Kane (Vocals), Jay Bonnell and Jason Shaffer (Guitars), Chris Konowal (Bass), and Jon Vinson (Drums). After several months of relentless writing and rehearsal, they began recording at Ante Up Audio with engineers Matt Curry and Cole Martinez at the helm. They have already garnered attention with the online release of material from their forthcoming EP, drawing comparisons to such heavyweights as Clutch, Mastodon and Down.
