-Those who know the past are better armed to face the future. Even in the year 2007 this is an undeniable fact. We live now, more than ever so. The illusion of the now defines itself in the multitude of music that engulfs us on a daily basis. Young people find it harder to see music in it's historical perspective. Luckily there are still enough people who know, cherish and expose the public to the past. One of them is DR. KLOOT - previously known as Kaiser Kloot, Kloot Per W, KPW. . He is the one for they invented the word self-sufficient. He was already working in a home studio before someone knew what hat meant. His youngest cd HISTORY OF THE WORLD / Part One is completely recorded at his home and later mastered in the USA by KRAMER. KRAMER is Dr. Kloots counterpart in the US, a sort of mad genius who produced hundreds of thousand of bands whom everybody forgot about before even knowing them. He ‘s part of the group of people around JOHN ZORN, BILL LASWELL and DAEVID ALLEN, played bass with THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS and WEEN and is currently working on a homage on the songs written in the legendary NY skyscraper THE BRILL BUILDING by the likes of Neil Diamond, Carole King, Phil Spector, Doc Pomus and others. . . HISTORY OF THE WORLD is also nothing less than a homage on the great songs of the 70-ies and 80-ies. Songs of THE CURE, KRAFTWERK, STOOGES, JOAN BAEZ and LAURIE ANDERSON. But also less familiar names like PERE UBU, PETE SHELLEY, WIRE and CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN, because a historian sees no boundaries. For the vocal parts he invited the ladies MARJAN DEBAENE, FRANCE L HERMITTE (POLYPHONIC SIZE) and GAELLE DE BRUXELLES (BJ SCOTT, OLIVIER SAXE) to his practise. His versions of the songs are nothing more than prime examples of a typical DR. KLOOT way of handling things. Respectful disrespectful, with the same passion as the originals were conceived and a boundless fantasy and creativity. Made with the most simplest of means. DIY in the most pure and positive meaning. The playfulness of the artist and the sincerity of an archaeologist.. .
