| About THE JAILBIRDS ''The Jailbirds are high-octane garage rock from Japan, the country that produced the dysfunctional freakouts of the King Brothers and the more studied hard punk edge of Guitar Wolf. The Jailbirds fall somewhere in between those bands, mixing anthemic melodies into mid-tempo, shout-the-chorus tracks.'' / The Stranger (Seattle's only newspaper) ''Japanese bands take the cake. They always look cool as hell and really commit themselves to their live show. The Jailbirds (great band name! unfortunately, there is also a German band with the same name) fit this stereotype. Sharp dressers, down to the vicious sunglasses, and hyper-heavy rock sound that drove the kids nuts. If you've seen Teengenerate, Guitar Wolf, Gyogun Rend's, Gasoline or any other top-tier Japanese band, you might write off the Jailbirds as more of the same. But the people at the co-op , most of whom have probably never been blasted away by Guitar Wolf, had their world turned upside down by the energy unleashed by the Jailbirds.'' /Blitz My Brain (SF music freak) ''Oh my god it's The Jailbirds(girls everywhere scream in crushy fandom like in the background of that "so you want to be a rock & roll star" Byrds song), straight from Japan and ready to make all the girls scream for real. Kinda like a rock & roll chia pet for making girls scream. Spread the stage out, add The Jailbirds, and listen to the girls scream. Ra ra ra rockin' and rollin' of course! People who believe not enough people are 'rolling' their 'rock and roll', take note. The Jailbirds are with you on that one, and will give you all the 'roll' you've been waiting for and love.'' /French Fry Factory (Oakland CA) 1st Album ''Going to Stab the Killer Gang!!'' Review ''In the early to mid 90’s, Japan was booming with garage, punk & surf bands but apart from a couple of diehards like the Jet Boys, that entire movement seems to have slowly disappeared. So it was a nice surprise to see Michael Lucas & Repent Records dig up a new Japanese band, the Jailbirds, who come up with an album chockfull of fuzzy garagepunk. The wild instro “Drug Racing" that opens side B wouldn’t be amiss on any Guitar Wolf or Eddy/Mad 3 record and both sides close with twin guitars battling it out over some razorsharp distortion.''
