Wood caters to the exclusive and avant-garde consumer; which seeks a special garment crafted with style and flair. His appreciation to cleverly intricate details and tailoring is consistent from season to season. Even before he graduated from Pratt Institute in 2001, Wood’s talent was recognized when he was awarded an Honorable Mention from the C.F.D.A. for the Junior Scholarship program. In his last year at Pratt, he garnered the coveted Tommy Hilfiger’s Jury Critic Sportswear Award for his young men’s sportswear collection he designed. Following internships with the established fashion houses of Anna Sui and Sean John; design assistant positions with Andrew Marc and Vintage Red, Wood took the next step, launching Brian Wood exclusive in 2003, a pop art inspired hand painted t-shirt collection. He later expanded and created his men’s sportswear collection Brian Wood in Spring 2005. Recently, Wood’s work has been turning heads within the fashion industry in all segments of the menswear market and has attracted media attention from publications such as VIBE, FLAUNT, TRACE, WARP, and COMPLEX. For the past three years (2005-2007), his menswear designs have been selected as a finalist in the Gen Art Styles International Design Competition. Wood has also been nominated as a finalist for the 2007and 2008 Fashion Group International Rising Star Award in menswear.
