A quitté son job (infirmier psychiatrique) en 1978 pour se consacrer aux synthétiseurs et aux boites à rythmes. MONA SOYOC (guitare, piano, vocaux). Née à Stamford, Connecticut (USA), d’origine argentine. A chanté 2 ans dans un groupe de jazz avant de rencontrer Spatsz. En janvier 80, Spatsz et Mona Soyoc fondent KaS PRODUCT et travaillent sur leurs propres compositions. Peu après, ils enregistrent leur premier E.P., Mind Seven, réalisé chez un ami sur un magnétophone deux pistes. Ce disque paraît en avril 80 sur un label local. Durant l’été 80, le duo enregistre un nouveau EP, Take me Tonight, dans les mêmes conditions que le précédent. En mars 81, Marquis de Sade invite KaS PRODUCT a faire la première partie de sa tournée française : Paris (Le Palace), Dijon, Lyon, Annecy, Marseille, Strasbourg, Metz, Rennes…. De mai à juillet 1981, KaS PRODUCT met au point 11 nouveaux titres qui figureront dans son premier album TRY OUT, enregistré en 11 jours en août au Sunrise Studio en Suisse . Produit par le groupe et Gérard Nguyen, l’album est paru en France chez RCA en février 1982, ainsi qu’en Angleterre, Allemagne et Japon La sortie de l’album sera suivie d’une tournée en Suisse et en France. Cette tournée française démarrée au Palace (avec Orchestre Rouge et Les Nus) et retransmise en direct par Bernard Lenoir, se terminera 4 semaines plus tard à l’Olympia (avec Alan Vega) Le deuxième album, BY PASS, a été enregistré en février 1983 à New York, au Sorcerer Sound Studio (Swans, Sonic Youth, Laurie Anderson…) sur les recommandations de Martin Bisi. Il paraît sur RCA en France, en Angleterre et en Allemagne Suivra une tournée française terminée au Bataclan, qui passera aussi par l’Italie et la Suisse. KaS PRODUCT a aussi joué en Angleterre, aux Pays-Bas et donné un concert mémorable à la Danceteria de New York. En 1984, Gérard Nguyen crée Les Disques du Soleil et de l’Acier et KaS PRODUCT enregistre un troisième album, EGO EYE, pour AZ. 20 et quelques années plus tard, TRY OUT et BY PASS restent parmi les disques essentiels de la scène rock française. … Source : http://www.dsa-shop.com/ Press : A synth-based duo from Nancy, France, KaS Product — Mona Soyoc (vocals/guitar) and Spatsz (electronics) — was very much in the Suicide/early Soft Cell mode, although that comparison is rather generous, quality-wise. Spatsz takes care of the musical details with derivate dispatch, while Soyoc — who lacks real vocal skills — sings unaccented English with self-important theatrical ambition on Try Out, whose highlight is the jazzy "No Shame." (The crude "Never Come Back," which rhymes "back" and "twat," is the album's easy low point.) By Pass finds Soyoc adopting a cold, aloof persona that makes the album pretentious and overwrought. "Loony-Bin" is the one of the few numbers that stick, but the exaggerated vocals ruin it after a while. Former Birthday Party guitarist Rowland S.
