About Me |
|
| I grew up on my parents farm near Forbes, in central New South Wales. From a young age, music was a part of my family life. My sisters and I were always encouraged to sing and perform.I attended Bedgerabong Public, a small school of about thirty students. It was there, at the age of six, that I first started performing in public. By the time I was in high school, I had thrown myself into many styles of music and at this time my family and I had moved to Orange, a bigger town in NSW. With more opportunities, I performed regularly in local and school musicals. I also sang in the school stage band, the school choirs and took classical singing and French horn lessons weekly. It was at this time (about 15) that I discovered the art of song writing. I spent hours on end in the music rooms, and at home at the piano, writing melodies and lyrics to express myself.I received a full scholarship to attend the Australian National University in Canberra. I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music and subsequently moved to Sydney in order to further my music career. Whilst studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, I was given the opportunity to join the Australian cast of "Cats". I toured overseas with the show for eight months, dancing and singing up a storm!! The show was a positive experience for me and I learnt a lot about people, touring and the entertainment industry. However, I longed to create my own music. I felt I had something more personal to offer, so for the following eighteen months, I spent my time writing songs, recording demos, playing gigs and finding my own sound. In early 2006, I returned home from an intensive four month tour with the world cast of "The Phantom of the Opera". I had a fantastic time performing in Asia and despite the demanding schedule of eight shows a week, I was so happy to be working with such an amazing cast and crew.In April 2006, I completed an EP of six songs and travelled to the USA for the second time to write and finally decided that Nashville was the place for me! I moved to Nashville on a permanent basis in May 2007 and have been lucky enough to write with fabulous people such as Larry Henley, John Ramey, Frank Myers and Jane Bach. I just posted some of my new songs up and I'm really excited about what 2008 will bring!! All I know is that after one year (that flew by!) I still think Nashville rocks and the people who live here continue to amaze and inspire me. | |
