Gargage Comedy invites you to be published writer. We are making a book. We kinda have an editor, and sort of a publisher already set to go. We were thinking it would be a collaboration of different stories like that book, “The Best American Nonrequired Reading” by Dave Eggers. Corky Baines is the Garage Comedy Stagehand who has blessed our ears with life advice he has learned from the road like, “You want to get a girl pregnant, cause then she will let you do her in ass. Nam-Yoho-Renge-Kyo!” That is right. Corky is an avid Buddhist and he will say Buddhist phrases in the same breath as , “Oh, I bet she is a squirter!” Corky has dreams of owning a van, and tells me this everyday. Corky thinks someday Garage Comedy will become as big as SNL, and once that happens, he can get his van. I don’t have the hear to tell him Garage Comedy will never be as big as SNL. So, Plan B. Together Garage Comedy contributes short stories, comics, lists, and whatever else we think is funny into a book where all the proceeds go towards Corky’s dream van. Corky is almost the Double Nickel, he is 54. So, with his road diet of French Fry’s and sloppy 22nd’s, time is of the essence. Don’t let your writing talents go to waste, and contribute to something we feel will be a lot of fun. We are going to put a countdown to Corky’s Van webpage on www.garagecomedy.com , keeping people updated on how many copies need to be sold to buy the van. If you don’t have a short story, maybe you can think of a funny list idea, and people can rip on it like...

Every monday night at 7pm you will find a sign up sheet at the main bar of El Cid. The open mic starts around 8pm and ends before Garage Comedy. Since it's a brand new open mic there is no time limit or limit to how many people can sign up. However, as the open mic grows we will have to cut down on time. Be a part of America's newest open mic before it becomes too popular. |
