| One October evening in 2005, four star-crossed drinkers stumbled upon one another from pastures afar (London, Peterborough, Birmingham and Barnsley) in a South Yorkshire pub. The aim - drink. The result - Tonic, a one off collaboration for Sheffield's FemFest between four musicians which quickly became a close knit unit of lairy nights out and the occasional band rehearsal. Tonic became Lounge Eleven, which was quickly buried in the past and formed into Blagqueen. The four Blaggers played many one off shows around the South Yorkshire area in between making teenagers cry (as teachers) and keeping the local bar managers in business. In August of 2007 at Leeds Festival in a cold tent at four in the morning, Blagqueen died of alcohol poisoning and re-emerged, bright eyed and ready for action as The Delicateers. Recently The Delicateers began hosting a weekly acoustic evening each Sunday at Barnsley pub Carters Old No. 7, as a repayment for keeping the staff in jobs over the summer. The Delicateers are: Sharon Stacey (guitarist and vocalist), Esther Wise (cellist and vocalist), Kate Wragg (keyboard and cornet player and vocalist) and Nic Smith (vocalist and sometime guitarist). | |
