Aggressive political hardcore from Pescara - Italy . Since 2004 playing in squat and clubs around all Italy and Europe spreading a message of unity against fascism/racism , capitalist society and neo-conservative attitude . 120 live shows in Italy and Europe and new album out on february . Born in late 2003 by Luca , Ivan ( drums ) and Ivan ( vocals ) the band started to create songs inspired by the new school of american hardcore bands like Turmoil , Biohazard , Downset , Helmet , Snapcase but mixing the positive attitude of bands of the old school like Youth of today , Better than a thousand and many more . In the october of 2004 the band went at Temple of noise studios to register the PROMO 2004 ( 3 tracks , self produced ) , this promo has been completely sell out and now is avaiable only on the web . After this Straight Opposition started a hard internet promotion and the unstoppable live activity . During this period the band started to create new material ... the new songs are very fast , far from the promo's direction . Aggressive , fast and very violent hardcore like Terror , Knucledust but without too many mosh parts.. In the fall 2005 the band comes to KUTSO NOISE HOME in Roma to register "Map of the etnies" , this song will appear on the PUNKSTER'S compilation . After this the band come again in the same studio to register the first full lenght called "STEP BY STEP" , out for INDELIRIUM RECORDS . 10 Tracks of aggressive and fast hardcore with low tunes making old school songs but with a modern sound . After one month the song "Step by Step" appears on the Rocksound PUNK special compilation . Since April 2006 , Carlo enter at the other guitar and the band starts to promote the new album playing all around Italy and making the first show out of Italy , in Slovenia . After this show the band never stopped to play all around Italy . In the october 2006 we changed the old bass player and Ivano De Simone entered the band and after a few days started to play live shows in Modena and Perugia . In that period tha band inspite the line up change started to play more shows than before , improving the sound and the quality of the songwriting .. The 2007 starts with the Italian Tour ( 11 shows around Italy , Slovenia and Switzerland ) and the first european tour , in April ( Hardcore Pride East European Tour 2007 - 8 shows - Greece , Bulgaria , Romania , Croatia , Slovenia ) . During that period the band started also to compose new material , faster than before and more hardcore than before ... In the summer of 2007 the band never stopped to play around all Italy and the second issue of "Step by Step" was at his end . In August 2007 the band went back at Kutso Noise Home to register "Critical Reason vs Little Italy" , a new song , a sing of the evolution of the band . This song had to appear in a lot of compilations ( Youth Bloody Youth , 596 project , ) and in the soundtrack of a documentary called "Sober in SoCal" ( a documentary about the "sober" californian scene ) . After some other italian shows the band started to register the new cd , called "Gathered Against Mediocracy" . 7 Songs of ultra aggressive old school hardcore in the vein of bands like Slapshot , Terror , Knucledust , Carry On , Youth of today .. After this Ivano went out of the band , and Manuele went in to play with us . In march the band started the "Gathered Against Mediocracy European Tour 2008 " , a one month tour which made the band play in Greece , Turkey and Bulgaria until the stop had in Sofia ( due to a knww injury happened to Carlo at the 8ball Club ) . The rest of the european shows of the tour has been cancelled and the band is continuing to play the Italian shows . Stay tuned for news ! La band nasce nell’agosto 2004. Nell’ottobre dello stesso anno viene registrato ai Temple Of Noise Studio’s il primo promo di tre pezzi nel quale è ancora evidente l’influenza dell’hc new school sulla scia di Biohazard , Turmoil , Downset , Helmet e Snapcase . Dall'uscita del suddetto promo ( PROMO 2004 ) la band inizia a suonare continuativamente in ambito locale ed in Abruzzo . 2005: la band comincia una massiccia attività live in Italia continuando contemporaneamente a comporre nuovo materiale , molto piu' veloce ed improntato verso sonorità old school ispirate a gruppi quali Slapshot , i primi Terror , ma sempre con sonorità moderne , accordature ribassate con un risultato decisamente piu' violento delle bands sopracitate . Ad Ottobre c’è l’apparizione sulla compilation sampler di Punkster con la canzone “ Map of the etnies “. In dicembre c’è l’ingresso ai Kutso Home Studio’s di Matteo Gabbianelli ( Payback ) per registrare il debut cd “ Step by Step “ su Indelirium Records. 2006: in marzo viene dato alle stampe il suddetto debut cd. Il lavoro si presenta musicalmente veloce e furioso con riff old school oriented e sporadiche tracce del new school di partenza . 10 tracce per 24 minuti di odio . Le liriche sono semplici ma polemiche e dirette e l’atmosfera generale è di forte impatto, grezza e senza troppi compromessi . Immediatamente dopo l’uscita di “ Step by Step “ parte una massiccia promozione di supporto in Italia e all’Estero e c’è l’ingresso come seconda chitarra di Carlo Duronio. Sempre dello stesso anno c’è la partecipazione alla compilation sampler edita da Rock Sound con il pezzo "Step By Step" tratto dall'omonimo album . 2007: dopo alcuni cambi di line up la band continua l’attivita’ live che vede il gruppo suonare in tutta Italia con l'ed in Europa con l'Hardcore Pride East European Tour 2007 ( Grecia , Bulgaria , Romania , Croazia e Slovenia ) e compone pezzi per il nuovo lavoro. In Grecia esce uno three way split per World Appreciated Kitsch ( comprendente la versione di "Map of the etnies" apparsa su Punkster , 1 pezzo da Step by Step , una cover live degli Slapshot e un pezzo tratto dal futuro lavoro "Critical Reason Vs Little Italy" ) , in Italia invece c’è la partecipazione alla compilation benefit edita da Indelirium Records “ Youth bloody Youth “ ( cui parte del ricavato và all'associazione "Il deposito dei segni" , che opera in Libano ) , “ 596 project “ edita da Countdown Records e sempre con la stessa canzone ( Critical reason vs little italy ) alla colonna sonora del documentario californiano "Sober in SoCal" , visibile su Youtube . In dicembre c’è l’ingresso ai Kutso Noise Home Studio’s per registrare il secondo disco ( un mini di 7 pezzi ) per Indelirium Records intitolato: “ Gathered against mediocracy “. Il disco è feroce old school ultra veloce e aggressivo , piu' complesso e denso del precedente disco , decisamente piuì hardcore nei suoni con chiusura finale affidata all recitazione di Cam Lecce del Deposito dei segni . 2008: la band comincia un massiccio tour di promozione del disco in europa ed in italia che vede gli Straight Opposition in città come Atene , Salonicco , Istanbul , Sofia e molte altre . Le liriche degli Straight Opposition sono fortemente legate al concetto di " ragione critica " sviluppato in particolar modo da autori quali Max Horkheimer ( fino agli anni 50' ), Herbert Marcuse e la lettura critica marxista. La ragione è vista come il piu' alto " strumento di lotta in grado di analizzare e nello stesso tempo superare i falsi standard odierni quali: produttivita', esteriorita', forza economica, competitivita', sessismo, alienazione ecc. La ragione critica si presenta all'uomo come il piu' alto riconoscimento della sua essenza all'interno di una realta' sociale basata sulla bugia, la repressione mediatica e la sua tendenza allo svilimento della corporeita' e dell'intelligenza. Rifiutare e' criticare e criticare e' nello stesso tempo " superare " determinati aspetti della realta' che partiti , associazioni e lobby di potere cercano di mantenere intatti. La ragione critica viene intesa come il piu' potente momento oppositorio nel rifiuto dei processi di controllo sulla vita del soggetto. Rifiutare è ragionare e ragionare e' reggersi con le proprie gambe in costante rapporto di tensione. Abbiamo pubblicato sulla nostra pagina hxcspace.com una frase che poteva essere intesa come lesiva della onorabilità di un nostro ex-bassista , scritta a caldo di uno split non amichevole , che non era assolutamente diretta ad arrecare offesa al medesimo , ma ce è stata inavvertitamente ed erroneamente lasciata sul sito per lungo tempo , gli Straight Opposition se ne scusano con Alessandro Stinziani We published on our hxcspace.com a sentence which could be seen as offensive of the honour of one of our ex bass players , wrote in a moment of rage in a not friendly split , it was not made to offend him , but it has been left on the page for a long time , Straight Opposition in sorry for that to Alessandro Stinziani . .. |
