Jimi LaLumia (yes, his last name actually means “the light”) has been an integral part of Long Island culture for the last thirty years. Inspired by the scene at Max’s Kansas City in the late ‘70s, LaLumia found himself at the helm of a punk band named the Psychotic Frogs, which caused a national furor with their debut single, “Death to Disco: Disco Sucks.” In the years since the Frogs, LaLumia has opened up the Record Connection, a music store in Ronkonkoma that sells CDs and rare vinyl. He's also a club DJ. In addition, Jimi regularly contributes to several local music publications and is currently a Strong Island Records dance artist. On this site you’ll be able to find information about all phases of Jimi’s involvement with music and media, from his days in the Frogs to his present involvement with dance music. In addition, there is information about the Record Connection and Jimi’s DJ work; you’ll also be able to participate in online record auctions, or contact Jimi directly about his availability as a lector.
