| I was born in Atlanta, Ga. and now lives in Fayetteville, GA. The Founder of Hawkins Books, Inc. My education include: South Fulton High School in East Point, Georgia; DeKalb College, Decatur, Ga.; the University of Georgia. I entered the US Army in 1968 served 14 months in Korea and left active duty in July 1970. Served with the Atlanta Police Department as a Police Officer and Detective from 1971 to 1975. In 1975, I joined the Fulton County Police, becoming one of that department's first black officers and in 1977 was promoted the first black sergeant with that department. In 1987, I joined the US Postal Service and in 1990, became a Postal Police officer, in 1996 a postal police sergeant and in 2000 I was promoted to Captain in charge of the Postal Police for the Southeast Area of the United States. I now work in Postal Management in the Atlanta area. I retired from the US Army Reserves in December 1999 with 31-years of service as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9). I am the author of 6 books and founder of Hawkins Books.
