| I am a lover of sports! I’m a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. I wasn’t born when the team last hoisted the Stanley Cup back in 1967, but the dream and ‘passion that unites us all’ will NEVER die! I’ll forever be connected to the brotherhood of both England’s Manchester United and Greece’s Olympiakos soccer clubs. The memory of watching Man U win the Europeans Champions Cup in 1999 will forever bring me joy, and all of the Greek Championships that Olympiakos have won will always bring me great memories. Following soccer and playing it as a kid has enabled me to accept and jump into the realms of Toronto’s newest sports organization – the Toronto Football Club. I will follow them with my heart and passion as they begin an amazing journey in the MSL. My favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos, were back-to-back Super Bowl Champions in 1998 & 1999. The Toronto Blue Jays won back-to-back World Series in 1992 & 1993. In NASCAR, I follow #24 Jeff Gordon, a 4-time Champion & 3-time Daytona 500 winner. Even though Canada’s Donovan Bailey won the Gold Medal at Atlanta ’96 in the 100x Meters, the clinching memory of watching Canada’s Ben Johnson smoke America’s Carl Lewis in Seoul ’88 will be one I will always remember! Along with being an impartial fan of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the now defunct Hartford Whalers, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers & Toronto Raptors, and MLB’s San Francisco Giants, I’ve come to admire sports players like soccer’s David Beckham and Ronaldo, golf’s Tiger Woods and Fred Couples, football's John Elway and Dan Marino, baseball's Jose Canseco, George Bell, Dave Stieb, and Jim Edmonds, and hockey's Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour, Felix Potvin, Mario Lemieux, Niklas Lidstrom, Alexander Ovechkin, Kimmo Timonen, and Vesa Toskala. But I couldn’t end this off without saying that Wayne Gretzky is the reason why I love hockey! Growing up in Canada and playing road hockey all throughout my childhood years, I idolized the way he played the game. I studied how he transcended the game into ‘art’, and I tried to do the same while out playing myself. I was too young to know the legendary Bobby Orr, but I have to say that Wayne Gretzky was the best player ever in hockey, and in sports … PERIOD! |

The epic 1st Round battle of the 1993 Stanley Cup Playoffs, between the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the Detroit Red Wings, came down to a sudden death Game 7 in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. One of the most intense games in Leafs history would need overtime after both teams battled to make the score 3-3 after 3 periods. And in overtime, Nikolai Borschevsky would score THE GOAL! Without a doubt, one of the best moments of my entire life! I'd like to meet:Without a doubt, Wayne Gretzky! If I had $9,999.99 to spare, I’d sign up for the week long hockey camp in Phoenix he’s been hosting for the last few years in January/February. Even if it was just scrimmage, to possibly get a pass from Wayne and score a goal on whomever was in net would be a dream come true!
