Baby Shaker is a power pop trio consisting of Ed Mansfield on bass, Mick Mansfield on drums, and Chip Ficyk on guitar. All three provide lead and backing vocals and utilize two and three part harmonies, which in these times seems to be a lost art. The band does original music that lends itself to artists such as The Beatles, The Who, Cheap Trick, REM, Bob Mould (Husker Du/Sugar), The Smithereens, and others. Their material can range from melodic, to rock, to punk, but all with that poppy-edge. Even more, the songs seem to differentiate themselves, so the audience is steered in various directions instead of one song sounding like the next. Yet one commonality exists they punch it out to give the song life. Baby Shaker has existed since 2003 and has graced the stages of Pats in the Flats, The Symposium, The Pirates Cove, The Winchester, The Hi-Fi Concert Club, The Phantasy, No Excuses, and others. They have also been showcased on 91.3 FM on the Mondo Beyondo Show hosted by Tommy Rock. Members of Baby Shaker have also previously been in of groups such as Odd, The Drooling Joolies, Moby Dickhead, Slobber Puss, Ass Crack Holiday, and Lazy Susan and participated in such events as Undercurrents. With years of experience under their belts, the bands performance is always professional and tight. And due to the range of their material style of power pop, Baby Shaker is quite suited to share the bill with various other types of bands and artists. |
