| Matt Cooper was born and bred in the smoky Industrialism of Lancashire, and it was his desire to break out of the shackles of Small-town life that has helped him develop into the talent he is today. After cutting his teeth with the sounds of Trance and Hardcore from the age of 14, Matt spent many hours in his bedroom listening to records he had bought on his Father’s old belt-drive turntable. Needless to say, this did not do much to satisfy his musical hunger, and he soon set about saving for his own decks. He soon started to gain the confidence he needed to approach promoters to play at their parties, often lying about his age just so he could get into the clubs… Fast-forward to the present, and Matt is still just as inspired by new sounds than he was on day one, forging his sound in the Underground electronic wonder of Techno. In the past two years, he has proven his talent by winning the praises of Galaxy FM’s ‘Nu Breed’ radio show, and Mixmag’s ‘Future Hero’ competition at Earl’s Court, London. From there, Matt gained residencies at two of the most prestigious nights in UK Clubland, Leeds’ the Dirty Disco and KissDaFunk, both of which he still holds today. Holding these residencies has enabled Matt to display his talents alongside some of the biggest names on the scene, such as Adam Beyer, M.A.N.D.Y, Luciano, Steve Lawler, Dave Clarke, James Zabiela, Timo Maas, Sebo K, Trentemoller, Ivan Smagghe, Anja Schneider, Pan-Pot, Stefan Bodzin, Mr C, DJ Yoda and Adam Freeland…. the list is endless, putting to the test Matt’s ability to diversify his sets to suit.
This year Matt’s graced the decks at legendary clubs like Privilege (Ibiza) and Space (Ibiza), and also spread his magic throughout the UK, Ireland and Latvia, to name a few.
Twisting and turning through bubbly, melodic House and mind-warping Techno, Matt’s ‘Dex and FX’ sets are the stuff of legend throughout the North of England, and with him now turning his hand to production, the sky is the limit… Please don't send promos through here as I might miss them, but please send them to matt@djmattcooper.com or drop them here...
