What do you get when you mix a charismatic kid from the Bronx with a sound reminiscent of old school Donnie Hathaway, and raised on a steady diet of Brian McKnight, Kim Burrell and Babyface? Well, you get a multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer who has made these influences his own and is ready to blaze the scene, taking lyric and melody to a fresh place in R&B. You could call Armando a sucker for unforgettable melodies with strong R&B backline progressions and he wouldnt mind it, except for the fact that he grew up in the birthplace of Hip Hop. The beats overtook me in the early 90s growing up and I just had to hit it like that. Apparently, it hit others as well, one notable example dancing for Missy, Gwen Stefani and Alicia at the Brit Awards in 2004, televised globally. If theres been some distraction in completing his debut CD, its been all for positive reasons. Appearances in Law & Order, national commercials for Time Warner, Verizon Wireless, performing backup for Billy Crawford (V2 Records) in Europe and Asia and the cast of AIDA in Europe have been rewarding, but he admits these have kept him from his first true love. No one has heard my music and truly seen what defines me, what I believe is my greatest contribution to the world. Im just getting started. Armando has displayed universal and crossover appeal, but is not so concerned about marketability but rather the artist within. While the main themes of love, relationships and having a good time are not unique, he offers an analogy to his earlier studies (referring to Five Towns College for music in New York) when questioned. Its good to know the rules but essential to know when to break them. The past year Armando foregone numerous distracting opportunities to focus on material for a debut release. He has been working with producers in New York as well as mixing in some of his own production while songwriting, which he mainly does from the piano.
