| "FUNKTIONAL PRODUCTIONS" is the production company owned and founded by hit songwriter, producer, musician, and artist Ira Schick(man) aka Ira Schick. From Calliope, Ira founded “Funktional Productions Inc.,” and remains its President and CEO. Since founding Funktional, he has successfully collaborated with such artists as Ace Frehly of KISS fame, He also co-wrote “My Destiny” with Chaka Khan, which became the title track for Richard Pryer’s Movie Jojo Dancer and Ms. Kahn’s album by the same name. Ira then went on to sign a major publishing deal with Warner Chapel Publishing. This relationship solidified Ira’s standing as a preeminent songwriter and he went on to write and produce for such R&B artists as Raashan Patterson, Calvin Richardson and Mark Dorsey, to name a few. It was at Funktional that he re-kindled his song-writing magic with Chaka Khan…a musical relationship that is still going strong. Being a true artist himself, Ira felt the need to explore other music genres. This decision would payoff when Schick delved into the pop genre, and co-wrote “Spinning Around” for Kylie Minogue, which went on to become a multi-platinum international number one hit. “Spinning Around” was responsible for re-establishing Minogue as a worldwide superstar. Further building upon his success in the pop field, Ira composed “Falling” for the biggest pop group in the world, N’SYNC “Celebrity” album. Aside from his numerous album credits, Mr. Schick(man) has composed original songs for film and television projects, including the following. He co-wrote, produced and performed “They Don’t Know”, title track of Universal Film’s “Loving Jezebel”. He produced the title track, “Have A Little Faith In Me” for the film “Disappearing Acts,” starring Wesley Snipes. He also composed “Falling” which was included in the soundtrack for the Miramax Film, “On the Line”, recorded by N’SYNC. Ira co-wrote and produced “Caught up,” for Queen Latifah’s “Beauty Shop.” The song features Universal Recording Artist, “Yummy” Bingham. Recently, Ira reunited with Chaka Kahn, writing and producing “Let’s Roll,” for the Fox–Searchlight film, “Roll Bounce”, starring Bow Wow and Nick Cannon. As of late, Ira has returned to his Funk and R&B roots writing and producing for Soulive’s latest album. He has also produced the song “Shining Star” for the Maurice White/Earth, Wind, and Fire tribute album; featuring Chaka Kahn.And is featured on the new two time GRAMMY AWARD WINNING 2007 release CHAKA KHAN’S album (FUNK THIS) Ira continues to explore his creative depths and build upon the success he has brought to countless artists across all musical genres.
