In the middle of a bullet riddled, brutal Salvadoran civil war, which was largely financed by the United States(Reagan's Administration). According to Frontline: Our Forgotten War (WNET, New York, 1985), military and economic aid to El Salvador was 3 billion dollars since 1980. Two-thirds of the 750,000 people who fled El Salvador ended up in the USA as well as different countries around the world, where many have prospered. The civil war intensified after Archbishop Oscar Romero was gunned down in 1980 while conducting his routine mass, and many church workers, mostly Jesuits, were assassinated. Three nuns and one layworker from the U.S. were also raped and murdered, their bodies found in a collective grave at a dumpsite. 65,000 civilians were murdered by the National Guard and right-wing paramilitary forces by 1984. In the winter of 1985, Camzilla migrated with his twin brother Lex diamonds, along with his family to the city of New york, in the winter of 85. At the time when Hip hop was demolishing the airwaves,being played in every boombox in New York. With headliners like Run Dmc,Kurtis Blow, Kool and the gang, and LL cool J. Queens became their new home. Unknowingly they exchanged their previous hell they escaped in El Salvador to the then New York Hell of the mid-80's innercity crack blitz. Crack viles, littered every new york City neighborhood. Families torn, drug dealers running much of the the streets. New york was in total chaos. Countless drug related murders, every day on your daily news front page. With all the madness camzilla, and lex diamonds managed to survive and grow into ambituous artists. Their mother worked three jobs to put food on the table, and clothes on their back. Migrating to this country, with the help of family already established in the city, the family managed to gain income in a wholesale garment company. In the care of his grandmother Camzilla and his Twin brother,"Lex diamonds," were mischievous and labeled the "Infamous twins" by family members. They both learned english quickly, watching many of the shows you probably watched. G.I. Joe, Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Voltron, and countless more. Miseducated in the New york city public schools. Dealing with alot of adversity, racism, from fellow classmates and unmotivated teaching staff. Camzilla describes in his own words growing up, "At home we would emulate every T.V character, from Michael Jackson, to the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. Yo Mtv Raps really had us rapping our faces off. WWF wrestling had us jumping off walls. Role-playing the "Ultimate warrior", "Hulk Hogan, The Rockers with Shawn Michaels and Marty jannety. Executing their moves on each other and cracking classmates skulls at recess.
