| AORTAL (formerly 'jamesotoole+band') JAMES O'TOOLE is a well known dublin street musician with an amazing vocal range and well crafted original songs who, in the last year, has teamed up with CONOR FRIEL on bass (conor's also the frontman for punk outfit 'into exile') and, after all kinds of turmoil,mayhem and the arrest of a previous drummer,ENDA ROCHE on drums... JAMES' voice reflects a childhood in dublin council flats and the years singing on dublin's streets, sometimes soft and vunerable, sometimes venomous... CONOR and ENDA are both multi instrumentalists and sound engineers and have brought their skills to the writing and arrangements... showcasing a broad church of influences... you will rarely hear anything like this live.... the band are busy writing new material and re-working old material for an album release later this year! CHECK OUT ’IN LIGHT’ MUSIC VID HERE- Influences: JAMES’ influences began at a very early age when his dad would blast zeppelin, bowie and queen with their windows open full volume on the stereo... his own searching brought him through the world of classical (taught himself to write notation and score strings...like on ’sorrow’!)...spent teen years listening to guns n roses, the smiths, depeche mode, the cure, lotsa bowie! at the moment james is listening to dave gahan, gospel, jeff buckley, anything with honesty and soul! ..."anything bitter sweet and beautiful and angry at the same time....anything REAL!..i dont care what ’style’ it is as long as it has a real ’content’!!" CONOR’s influences started with springsteen and johnny cash which he heard as a child...over the years listening to all types of music these are some of his favourites- billy talent, my chemical romance, aiden, alkaline trio, the academy is, angles and airwaves, +44, blink 182, good charlotte, guns n roses, papa roach, the used, yellow card... ENDA’s main influences are zeppelin, interpol and muse... THE BAND manages to blend all these diverse influences into something of their own.... Sounds Like: an angel while kicking your teeth in.... ROAD RECORDS------ "...moments hinting at something like jeff buckley fronting early smashing pumpkins, there are lots of big explosive guitar heavy emotional alt rock sounds blended in with the odd string led ballad..."
