About Me
Live EPK Video "Not Without Effect" We believe that God has called each one of us to be a part of HIS ministry and we plan to give it all we have to follow that purpose. Ruins Restored is a Christian rock band that consists of lead vocalist Malin Hayes, guitarist Jason Kirk, drummer David Coleman, and bass guitarist Travis Barksdale. We are based out of Birmingham, Alabama. We are a group of people that wish to follow Gods plan for our life and lead others in worshipping Jesus Christ through music. We find strength in our faith to our Lord and Savior. We love to have fun but we know the importance of our calling to praise God with our music. Our mission is to spread the word of Jesus Christ through the music we make and the lives we lead. We know that HIS plans are only about the soul winning of those who are lost. We have faith that we can see those plans come to pass through the music of Ruins Restored. The kind of music that worships and honors our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ruins Restored is actively performing for various venues and we are looking forward to a busy schedule. We are excited at the opportunities we have to perform and minister to youth groups, conferences, and special events. In great anticipation, we are about to begin the recording of our first album as well. God is so good and we are so incredibly blessed. We just wrapped up recording with award winning producer, Barry Blair. He is best known for his work with Audio Adrenaline, Sanctus Real, and many other amazing bands. We are very thankful for all of his hard work and friendship. We would sincerely appreciate if you would please pray for us. Pray for each one of us as individuals and for our families. Malin Hayes ~Lead Vocals Malin has been singing in the Celebration Choir at Enon Baptist Church in Morris, Alabama since he was a teenager. He would take solos whenever they were available. In his early twenties, he tried out all the empty things of this world. Malin slowly became more and more dissatisfied with every thing that pulled him farther and farther from his savior Jesus Christ. Malin soon realized that he needed to rededicate his life to serving the Lord. Malin fervently is seeking to see worship and praise made alive in the power of the Holy Spirit through the music of Ruins Restored. Malin is married to Kim and together they work hard to follow God's plan for their lives. “When I read my Bible, I believe that I Corinthians 15:10 would best describe me and my life.” Jason Kirk ~Guitar Jason played his first guitar over 16 years ago. After high school, he spent some time serving in the US Marine Corps. Even though Jason grew up in a Christian home, he found himself living a worldly life. Several years ago after a life changing experience, Jason dedicated his life to Christ. Since then, God has called him to go out and serve the Lord. Jason and his wife, Sherry became members of Enon Baptist Church. It was there that he heard Malin sing and was interested in getting together with him to further pursue the gifts God had given them. Jason is a proud father of two daughters, Taylor and Hannah. Jason states, "The motto I try to live my life by was written by Charles Stanley that stated 'We are the tallest and the strongest when we are on our knees.' and you just can't say it any clearer than that." Travis Barksdale ~Bassist At the age of 13, Travis Barksdale, picked up a bass guitar as an outlet from having to deal with his parents divorce and custody battle. "I still carry the pain with me today and I feel it makes me a better Christian and therefore a better musician." He soon decided to become saved and began his journey as a dedicated Christian. It is Travis passion to be the bringer of the word of God to the people who are looking for something real to grasp. Travis is happily married to his best friend, his wife Katie. When asked what its like to play in Ruins Restored, Travis says, "I feel like God has given me a talent to use. I see youth reaching for something through this dead world, holding onto anything tangible. My obsession is to teach them the word of God through music. I feel like its my calling to bring light to a dark world." David Coleman ~Drummer David Coleman was 18 when he first sat down behind a drum set on the same night he was saved. For on that night, a friend, Scott Wallace, explained John 3:16 to David and his life was forever changed. David plays the piano, guitar and according to him, “a pretty mean kazoo”. When asked about what God means to him, David said, “God is my everything. He has carried me through many problems and I see His hand guiding my life daily. He blesses me in so many ways… so I hope to make Him smile by blessing His name.”. David is a full time student, works in a law office, and feels being in Ruins Restored helps him keep his worship time constant. Recently David said, “I think being in Ruins Restored is a great opportunity for me to continue spreading the word of Christ. I want to see hearts touched and lives changed.
