| I have worked in a variety of areas in the Health & Fitness industry educating, motivating and teaching healthy lifestyle behaviors to clients, patients and students for the past 17 years. I am saddened when I see well-intentioned people believing in the many “quick fixes” offered to them by the fitness industry. Unfortunately, many fall for the numerous ill-advised diet and exercise schemes. I feel it is my responsibility to share what I have learned by debunking the myths and spreading the truth about proper diet and exercise. My greatest reward comes from seeing others practice what I preach and start experiencing the many benefits of a healthy lifestyle in their own lives.I became certified in teaching group exercise classes right after high school and have numerous certifications in Step, Kickboxing, Slide, Body Sculpting, & Choreography & Floorwork. I also started weight training and became involved in Powerlifting. I won several competitions in the Bench Press. People would always ask me questions about lifting and using proper form and technique. Soon after, I became certified in personal training. As I began to experience the positive effects of fitness I became a member of the National Physique Committee and began competing in Fitness competitions. I have competed in 4 out of the past 10 years and am the first female competitor in the state of Louisiana to have competed in all 3 divisions of bodybuilding: Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure. I became involved in fitness modeling also during this time. I love traveling around giving seminars and working shows.
/ MY 6th STRAIGHT WIN! :)I AM A PROUD REPRESENTATIVE OF TEAM LABRADA! I earned a Bachelors of Science in Fitness & Sports Studies, a teaching certification in Physical Education and a Masters of Education in Exercise Physiology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM). After getting my masters degree in Exercise Physiology, I began working in the field of cardiac rehabilitation for five years. The shattered lives I witnessed convinced me that prevention was the key and a healthy lifestyle was the answer. I went on to teach elementary physical education classes in PreK 3 -6th grade. I also was the extended day director and was in charge of the after school program where I helped children with their homework and planned physical activities for them. We must all do our part & work together to help fight childhood obesity. Besides working out, my hobbies include singing, dancing and acting in Musicals. I have been involved in theater productions since I was in grade school. I won the Best Actress Award my senior year in high school. Some of my best performances include roles in: Will Roger’s Follies, Chicago The Musical, Lil Abner, Anything Goes, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sweet Charity, Crazy For You and Fame among many others. - Recently, I have worked at Louisiana Tech University and ULM as an Exercise Science & Kinesiology Instructor. Right now I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Community Health Services at Texas Women's University (TWU). This will allow me to follow my dream of becoming a college professor. Beyond my faith and family, achieving optimal Wellness and teaching others how to do this is my passion and my life. My ultimate goal is to continue increasing my knowledge of living a healthy lifestyle and be able to continue to share that knowledge with university students, clients and my community.I believe in balance and moderation in all things. There are 6 dimensions of wellness and I truly believe that by living a lifestyle that strives to balance ALL the dimensions of wellness that one can truly live a life of quality and happiness with oneself.I would like to thank all my friends on Myspace for supporting me.
