| Drummer and percussionist Mauro Satalino is part of a generation of young musicians engaged in exploring creative and rich links between jazz and the vast south-american traditional music. An active performer and educator, his versatility allows him to be part of different situations and move around styles such as Jazz, Pop, Funk and South-American rhythms. Mauro started his musical voyage at the age of seven, first learning how to play the organ in Venezuela. Later, he attended to the Simon Bolivar Conservatory in Maracay and studied classical guitar. Back in Argentina he involved into the jazz and Afro-southamerican scene both as a drummer and percussionist. In the year 2000, with a scholarship from BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC, he moved to Boston to expand his musical frontiers. He had the great opportunity to learn and shared stages with amazing teachers and performers: Hal Crook, Danilo Perez, Ian Froman, Ed Tomassi, Mark Walker, Mugrew miller, Jeff Galindo and Jon Hazilla. After graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in Music Performance, he moved to New York in 2004, where he has been an active menber of the Latin-American and Jazz scene, collaborating with musicians such as: Julio Santillan, Pablo Aslan, Sofia Koutsovitis, Alexandra Samsonova, Carlos Franzetti, Jaleel Shaw to name a few.
