| The word Sphyg is an abbreviation of the word Sphygometer which is a medical instrument used to take blood pressure. Whilst Matthew and Jerome were both working at a Psychiatric Hospital they were playing a rather surreal game of cards with a gentleman speaking word salad and trying to think of a name for the band. They were quite taken by the idea of calling the band Endangered Faeces until a nurse swung by rather frantically asking where the "Sphyg" was. Ding! So incase you happen to ask, we are not called "the sphinx" because that would be, well..quite crap.Since then The Sphygs have gone through a few different line ups after the original bass player dissappeared to hitch-hike through Europe in an effort to escape the police and a disgruntled Russian drug dealer. He has since returned to make fencing swords and is still good friends with the band. The second Guitarist bought a flat in Morocco and moved there and the original drummer was just a bit of a dick really.
