About Me |
|
| Scott is a singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist who tours and records with Beach Boy legend, Brian Wilson, singing and playing keys, vibes, guitar and percussion. He won a Grammy last year for his work on the Smile album. Scott played bass on Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin album, sang and played drums, bass, guitar and keyboards on Liz Phair's Whitechocolatespaceegg album, did vocals for Greg Dulli's new Twighlight Singers CD, and is writing with Greg, sings and plays guitar w/ Zach Broocke, and is producing The Fictions debut. He's been a session singer, player, writer, and producer on award winning spots for McDonalds, Disney, Bud, Miller, Subway, 7-Up, Gatorade, P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Noxema, Kraft, Pontiac, Ford, etc. He has scored Karen Sisco for ABC, Zoey 101 and Drake and Josh for Nick Jr., four award winning independent short films, and has placed dozens of songs on TV shows, including a song that became JT and Colleens theme song on The Young and the Restless. In the 90's, he played guitar and keys for Pulitzer and Tony award winning Rent. The Chicago Tribune called his last band, The Falling Wallendas' debut, "Breathtaking3 1/2 out of 4 stars." At 18 years old, Scott won a nationally-televised battle of the bands hosted by Sammy Davis Jr. After performing with The Who, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits, and others at Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit, Scott, along with the Brian Wilson band, followed Stevie Wonder, Macy Gray etc. at the MusicCares salute to Paul Simon. Next, at TNTs tribute to Brian Wilson at Radio City Music Hall, Scott backed, among others, Elton John, Billy Joel, David Crosby, Vince Gill, and Paul Simon, who invited Brian and his band to share a summer tour. Both legends praised Scotts CD, and Brian calls him "the most talented musician Ive ever met." Next, the band performed at the Queens Golden Jubilee at Buckingham Palace, with Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Queen and Paul McCartney, who then asked the Brian Wilson band ( who he called the best band on the road ) to join him at the Adopt A Landmine event. A week later, he was onstage at Madison Square Garden w/ Sting, James Taylor, Don Henley, Roger Waters, John Mellancamp, Jeff Beck and Sheryl Crow. Scott has written over 300 songs and is constantly collaborating with, and producing other artists, most recently, former Afghan Wigs leader, Greg Dulli ,up and coming LA pop band, The Fictions and Drake Bell from the Drake and Josh show. After writing with members of Filter and SmashingPumpkins, Scott released his second solo CD, The Dotted Line, which got him BBC airplay and an interview with Jonathan Ross, Britain's biggest readio and TV host. Heres what Classic Rock Society Magazine said of the CD: While the open road implies infinite freedom, the fact that there's a line down the center reminds us that someone has been there before. Building on a solid foundation of classic pop and rock, the dotted line then branches out, taking the listener down new and unexpected paths. Punchy and catchy, yet atmospheric and emotional, their debut has the rare combination of being as moving as it is tuneful. The dotted line was created by LA-based singer, writer, multi-instrumentalist, Scott Bennett. Scott has spent the last few years as a key member of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilsons touring ensemble, a group who Paul McCartney calls, the best band on the road, period. Influenced by both legends, but with his own distinct sound, Scott brings strong melodies back to the forefront of modern rock. Solid song-writing and musicianship are a large part of the equation, but the greatest appeal may be in the soaring, heartfelt vocals. With its smart, melodic and passionate sound, "the dotted line should have many music fans signing on. ATTENTION: MY OUTGOING MESSAGES ARE NOT WORKING.
