LTH 703: lightning strike lightning's "the moon" b/w "no you won't"
"the moon" kicks off lsl's vinyl debut with some synth squelch/drum liftoff, until the trademark banjo and extremely-distorted guitar interplay begins the melodic tapestry, joined by four voices around one microphone. "no you won't" was one of the earliest lsl tracks, recorded in an era before murk and caves. a clean electric guitar, bass, and banjo create the foundation upon which a nonchalant female lead vocal spooks some warnings punctuated by fluttering flute leads. as freaky as these folks come. hand-stamped (from hand-carved linoleum stamp) black 7" vinyl record held in a chipboard sleeve, with a full-color photo pasted to the front and an in-house screenprinted front and back design. hand-stamped-numbered to 300. go to http://lanimauxtryst.blogspot.com/ for information on ordering our 7inch, which is part of the Tryst Haunt series.

The Wire review of The Moon b/w No You Won't 7":
"Lightning Strike Lightning are a wonderful post-tongue aggregation of folks who are committed to knocking the stuffing out of categorical walls, but using a primitivist kind of beauty so that songs and textures keep a certain amount of their natural shapes. Sweet howling hell, sure; but thoroughly delicately lovely as well." - Byron Coley, Jan. 2008.

Foxy Digitalis 2007 Year-End Best-Of List "Starting with LSL (who are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands), they steal the show with "No You Won't" & "The Moon." They're such exquisite songs. The former bends your ears with layers of vocals and excellent rhythm backing the hypnotic voice of Adrienne Heflich. This shit will lull you into a splendid trance. "The Moon," is just as good, too. And extra points for prominent banjo use and great lyrics." - "Best 7" of the Year" Brad Rose, Jan. 2008.

Dusted Magazine review of The Moon b/w No You Won't 7":
"Intellectual kommune kids raise the ghosts of bowls since cashed. “The Moon” proves stunning in its natural fluidity of sound, a pulsing beat building landmarks in the echo chamber. “No You Won’t” is some manner of novelty tune, a spoken-word chant set to loft-apartment sea shanty sway. Singles aren’t the best place to catch a vibe off of a band like this, but “The Moon” will do at the beginning of your next séance, before things get really deep."

Electric Voice Phenomenon review of The Moon b/w No You Won't 7":
"Lightning Strike Lightning proves to be the heart and soul of Tryst Haunt's first excursion providing an inviting scene with a blend of warm personalities and inclusive psychedelic folk. Lightning Strike Lightning try to find the vast wasteland of Autumn's core through word but the melodies are snug and cozy, choosing to be the hot cocoa and sweet kiss on the forehead that all children wish for after coming in from fall's cool touch."
