Bryan Barber
, a native of East Palo Alto, California, has the eye and ability to create striking
visuals well suited to many top musical talents. Over the past seven years, Barber
has worked with a diverse group of musicians. He has captured the Dirty South
antics of Three 6 Mafia and Lil Jon & The
Eastside Boyz ; he has exposed the thuggish charm of Jagged Edge ,
gone behind the scenes with West Coast music mogul Dr. Dre , and
turned on to the irresistible Bow Wow . In 2003, OutKast again called upon Barber to direct Hey Ya (Andre 3000) and The Way You Move (Big Boi) and, Roses, from their Grammy-winning Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. The videos caused a sensation showering Barber with nominations, awards and recognition. In the Summer of 2004, MTV awarded Hey Ya with Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Special Effects and best Art Direction. Barber also earned the London Cadz Awards for Hey Ya as Best International Video of the Year and further took home three statues for Best Hip Hop Video, Best Direction of a Male Artist, and Video of the Year. International acclaim continued when Canadas music video channel equivalent to MTV, MuchMusic awarded him with Video of the Year and Best Hip Hop Video for Hey Ya. Christina Aguilleras video Aint No Other Man is burning up the music television air waves. This summer fans are anticipating Bryans latest Outkast videos from the Idlewild soundtrack. Barbers other works include videos for artists such as Missy Elliot, Destiny Child, G-Unit, Nelly Furtado, Macy Gray, Jermaine Dupree, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Musiq, Obie Trice, and Ludacris. Barber also has taken on ambitious advertising directing assignments such as a project for Nokia, sponsor of the Sugar Bowl. The ambitious three-minute advertainment piece starred Snoop Dogg and aired during the games half-time show. Barber was also sought out by Victorias Secret to create a sexy, commercial campaign that was fantastical and fun for their fall Uplift line, where he created a wonderland in heaven for the famous Victoria Secret Angels to frolic. Barber participated in a promotion for Sunkist with the winner securing a role in and access to a Bryan Barber video set. Her recently shot a NFL Network commercial featuring top athletes of the sport. Barber is debuting his first feature film, the Outkast musical, IDLEWILD. Featuring a star studded cast along side Big Boi and Andre 3000. Terrance Howard, Macy Gray, Cicely Tyson, Ben Vereen, and Ving Rhames among many. Idlewild is a 1930s influenced musical loosely based on the young lives of the star and the director.
