| *PLEASE NOTE* - Anything listed on the calendar as "w/Ha Ha Tonka" simply means that I will be playing drums IN Ha Ha Tonka - not opening for them. I am part of them. I highly suggest you come out to one of those shows if you like this stuff. It'll be way more entertaining. :) Born in a small Arkansas town to a poor bass player and a red headed waitress, I never really thought I could do anything else but be a musician. I spend the majority of my time as the drummer for Bloodshot Records newest indie rock/alt. country act, Ha Ha Tonka (formerly Amsterband). With a hefty tour schedule of 100 plus shows a year, there is little time for side projects - reguardless, "Varsity Club Sunshine Coach" was born. Named after a phrase spotted on the back of a van, the project was created as an opportunity for me to put some of my less polished, more lo-fi ideas into the hands of musical friends and family. Simply put, I'm not writing these songs in hopes to create a successful "solo" project. I'm writing these songs to become a better writer. The better I am at writing, the more it will help everything that I'm involved in. I always try and strive to be a better all around musician. Do I want people to listen? Of course! The more people listen, the more feedback I'm getting on what works. Plus I get to share this whole process with everybody that's willing to lend their ears... and I think that's the coolest part.
