Check out my new music project called "SWINGTIME". The my space location is myspace.com/swingtimejazz . Also, a website is up, www.swingtimejazz.com.
Swingtime features ’30s and ’40s classic American and European swing standards in the style of Django Reinhardt. Swingtime is Larry Pollock on rhythm guitar, Luke Hill (Paris 49, Elana James, Hot Club of Cowtown) on solo guitar, and Ed Friedland (www.edfriedland.com) on upright bass. What time is it? Its SWINGTIME!!!
Django’s Moustache was formed in 2003 by Larry Pollock, who recruited a group of fellow musicians and with his love and respect for the music of Django Reinhardt led them to collaborate on this project. The inspirational melodies of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s "swing Manouche" and the Latin rhythms of the Gitanos of Spain are not a destination, but a point of departure for their music...exuberant and sophisticated, while maintaining a South Austin attitude.
Django’s Moustache usually works as a trio, but can often be seen in a quintet format with the addition of violin and percussion.
Based in Austin, Django’s Moustache performs at public and private venues around town, across Texas and beyond. Django’s moustache has performed at the Wimberly Django Festival, the Austin Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival, and Djangofest Northwest in Langley,WA."To see and hear Django’s Moustache brings a grin to my face and makes me happy inside...these guys are playing better and better everytime, but most of all from the heart."
