The Coolidge Corner Theatre, one of Brookline's treasured landmarks, is a fully-restored Art Deco movie palace. Showing movies the way they were meant to be seen since 1933, the Coolidge offers comfort, beauty and the chance to experience the best film and video programming around - from hot independents to classic revivals, to extraordinary selections of world cinema. As a not-for-profit arts institution, the Coolidge features first run arthouse films, including independent films, international cinema, and documentaries. We also do frequent revival series of cinema classics, midnite movies, and family and senior film programs. The Coolidge also brings area residents important cultural events, including film festivals (the Boston Jewish Film Festival, the Independent Film Festival of Boston, the Human Rights Watch Film Festival, the Boston International Festival of Women's Cinema) and collaborations with cultural partners like WGBH, Brookline High School, and the Boston Psychoanalytic Society. One of the last remaining original big screens in the country, our giant main theatre seats 500 with classic elegance and cinematic style, as well as a recessed theatrical stage.
