Loushana Rose specializes in potently unique fine art. She shares the visions that emerge from her imagination in an innovative contemporary style that expresses her social perspective and pays homage to the rich cultural landscape of her ancestry. Rose relishes in bringing her interpretation of the collective human experience to canvas while simultaneously satisfying the aesthetic hunger of her viewers. She believes that the act of creating art has a powerful curative property and it is her personal objective to expose others to the artistic healing process that she has long enjoyed. As founder of UMA Productions (Universal Music Awareness), Rose fulfills her objective beyond the canvas through mediums of varying forms ranging from the production of collective art exhibitions and performances to musical festivals, tours and concerts. Throughout Rose’s work is the overarching belief and theme of art and music as universal languages that transcend the artificial boundaries of nation-bound culture. Rose’s passion for cross-cultural and cross-generational artistic exchange was initially fueled by her involvement in 1993 with the Mar Da Jada Public Art Project in Chalala, Mexico. Thereafter, her desire to heal cultural divisions through art inspired her to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the California College of the Arts. Since then, Rose has successfully implemented after-school art workshops for both the Oakland and Alameda County School Districts in California at the elementary and secondary school levels. She has created numerous private collections and contributed to public art projects domestically and internationally. Her work has been published in art anthologies and commercial periodicals as well as exhibited in individual and collective exhibitions nationwide.
