About Me

Adrian Stout plays double bass and musical saw in the Tiger Lillies . He was born at the Woolwich Hospital for Mothers and Babies, London.Early attempts at music included clasical guitar and French horn lessons as well as the construction of primitive organs from electronic componants, screws and old radios, though old comedy LPs were of more interest than music for many years. Various advanced experiments were conducted with tape recorders, soldering irons and amplifiers that resulted in sudden electricution on a regular basis, as well as the urgent arrival of the local firebrigade. Only on the discovery of the bass guitar did the rudements of harmony present themselves and the possibility of musical interaction became a reality. He had played Blues, Jazz, Country, and other primitive musical forms in various known and lesser known bands throughout the UK, Europe and as far afield as India, and recorded two albums for Blues diva Dana Gillespie before being co-opted by The Tiger Lillies for 1995's Edinburgh Festival. This once serious musician has since then found himself dancing in leider hosen, making love to inflatable sheep and dressing as a cheap prostitute. He currently tours the world in a never ending whirl of low budget airlines, 2 star hotels and confused yet strangley satisfied audiences. Make it stop, I feel sick... No, wait, now I feel better now.He currently plays a Bacho Sandvik Stradivarius Musical Saw and an Eminence removable neck portable upright bass.Visit www.tigerlillies.com for info, touring info and to buy cds.He has released a cd with Sexton Ming called "A Taste of Wood" on their own Crapping Clown label. He co-wrote all the songs with Sexton and recorded, mixed, produced and mastered the cd. You've heard all the hype, now hear the real thing. Adrian Stout of the Tiger Lillies meets Sexton Ming, godfather of British Outsider Music. A ball-blistering album. Step away, girls. You may get pregnant. With tracks like "Chick Career", "Phyllis" and "Hippo's paddling pool", no wonder you'll like it. Click here to buy "A Taste of Wood" He has recently been performing live concerts with Stuart A. Staples and played bass on the albums 'Lucky Dog Recordings '03-'04', 'Leaving Songs' and the live album 'Souvenir '06'.Recording Creditswith Dana Gillespie

Sounds Like: A double bass strapped to an accordion being pushed down a flight of concrete stairs by a cheap drum kit, hitting a floor covered in broken glass and squeaky dog toys. The bass wobbles upright and promptly falls over breaking all its strings, the accordion vomits loudly and copiously while the cheap drum kit give a tiny tinkle of joy as it surveys its work. Passers-by mutter disapprovingly and scuttle on past, trying not to slip on the vomit or the broken glass which crunches underfoot. A man singing in a high-pitched voice laments the passing of the bass and accordion and everyone feels sad. Later, a man with a deep voice grunts like a rabid elk on heat into a tin bucket. Electric guitars sit around a table playing snap and drinking cheap larger (6 cans for £5) and moan and wail about 'the good old days' and 'them bloody kids'. Their paintwork is not the best but then it never was. Strange Belgian detective music wafts into earshot from a tv in the next room.
