| It all started when guitarist Nick Steckler started playing guitar in order to look cool while working during the midnight shift at a local gas station. He soon ran into Alan Cambell when the drummer stopped in to get gas and smokes. After discovering that they had a shared interest in becoming inebriated and making loud, raucous noise they decided to form a band. After consuming vast quantities of beer and going through many lineup changes Nick eventually learned how to play (somewhat) and Five Hundred Pound Furnace was born.
The lineup of Five Hundred Pound Furnace was finally rounded out with the addition of bassist Andy Ehlers and bassist-turned-vocalist Kyle Ellefson in the winter of 04/05. Since their debut on the Winnipeg scene in Aug 2005, Five Hundred Pound Furnace have been wowing audiences with their energetic stage antics and their own brand of punky, riff heavy, catchy, headbanger-friendly hard rock n'roll.
After a year of suffering terrible migraines, drummer Alan Cambell was forced to quit the band in Sep. '06. The Furnace knew they had found the perfect replacement in Bobby C when he showed up bearing 2 cases of beer. By miraculous coincidence he also happened to play the drums. Funny how these things work!
