| Clack Mountain String Band came to life in Morehead, KY and is a product of the rich and vibrant musical traditions of east Kentucky. Inspired by the people and place that surrounds them, CMSB is connected by a common vein and play their music with great energy and passion. The tunes come from oral transmission, archives and original compositions. Clack Mountain String Band is vastly influenced by the mountains and rolling hills of east Kentucky, as well as folks like Lee Sexton, George Gibson, Paul David Smith, John Harrod, Roger Cooper and many others who are passing on the music of our mountain fore fathers to a new generation. On the forefront of a diverse and continuing old-time mountain music scene in east Kentucky, Clack Mountain String Band is Karly Higgins, guitar & vocal; Jesse Wells, fiddle; J.T. Cure, bass; and Brett Ratliff, banjo & vocal. Clack Mountain String Band hopes to put their own experiences and emotions into this old style of music as they work to perpetuate the sounds of their mountain heritage. Hope you enjoy! | |
