The band idea was originally conceived in summer 2003 by Ruggero Ascione and Riccardo Benedetti, who were the bass and drum players of different bands in the 90’s local rock and metal scene in the North of Italy. They feel the necessity to change their roles and so they become respectively guitar player and singer. They contact the young drummer Emanuele Rossi and Primo Istinto start to rehearse. In December 2003 a new band member is introduced: the keyboard player Marco Zanibelli. In this way the ideas only approximate became concrete. In May 2004 the first Demo CD called “Il Giardino Del Male” (literally: The Garden Of Evil) is released. Nevertheless the band is still incomplete. In fact there is not a fifth essential member required to complete the band’s sound: the bass player. Only in winter 2005 the aim is achieved, when finally the circle closes: Daniele Carozzi (also member of Dark Side) takes place as official bass player. The understanding between them is perfect. After a year devoted to several shows, in march 2007 the recordings of “Frammenti d’anima” (literally: Fragments of Soul) start. The new work immediately shows the basic idea which is also the foundation of the band: to bring us on a journey through the several “instinctive” emotions we meet every day. The recordings go on for several months and in October 2007, the band signs a contract with the independent label Videoradio for the distribution and the promotion of the record, which is attended to be released on the national market the first week of December 2007. I Primo Istinto nascono nell'estate del 2003 dall'idea di Ruggero Ascione e Riccardo Benedetti: bassista e batterista di svariati gruppi della scena rock metal brianzola degli anni '90. Il gruppo sorge dalla loro necessità di cambiare ruolo e di trasformarsi rispettivamente in chitarrista e cantante. I due coinvolgono come terzo membro il giovane batterista Emanuele Rossi e i Primo Istinto iniziano così le prime sessioni di prove. Verso dicembre 2003, l’inserimento di un quarto elemento: il tastierista Marco Zanibelli concretizzerà le idee che, sino ad allora, erano state sviluppate solo ad un livello approssimativo. Nel mese di giugno 2004 viene realizzato il primo demo CD, intitolato “Il giardino del male”. Il gruppo è tuttavia ancora incompleto. Manca infatti un quinto elemento essenziale per completare il sound della band: il bassista. Solo nell'inverno 2005 il cerchio si chiude: Daniele Carozzi (Dark Side) prende posto nei Primo Istinto come bassista ufficiale. L'intesa tra i cinque è perfetta. Dopo un anno dedicato a numerosi concerti live in tutta la zona, nel mese di marzo 2007 cominciano le registrazioni di “Frammenti d’anima”. L’intero album è subito pervaso dall’idea di fondo che è anche alla base del gruppo: condurci in un percorso attraverso le molteplici emozioni “istintive” che ogni giorno accompagnano le nostre vite. Il lavoro si protrae per diversi mesi e, ad ottobre 2007, il gruppo firma un contratto con l’etichetta indipendente Videoradio per la distribuzione e promozione dell’album, la cui uscita sul mercato nazionale è prevista per la prima settimana di dicembre 2007. |
