About Me |

| I grew up in Portland Oregon, a preachers kid with a lot of music in the family. After attending my first concert in my early teens, I descided that anybody could be a veterinarian, but music was where my heart was. Probably against my dads better judgement, I got a Les Paul copy for Christmas one year and the neighbors still haven't forgiven him. Hey, if you can't play it good, at least you can play it loud...I fell in love with country radio, Merle Haggard, Restless Heart, Vern Gosdin, Hank Jr., and Keith Whitley to name a few. After high school, I had a chance to play the west coast with my uncles duo The Elwell Bros. In 1994 it was time to bring my pocket full of hit singles to Nashville. There's nothing like moving into the center of the country music universe to to realize how much there is to learn.After settling down in Music City, I met another singer/songwriter named Pam MacBeth. Pams knowledge and love of country music history soon turned me on to the world of Hank Williams, Faron Young, and Patsy Cline as well. After writing some songs together, we formed the duo The Devilles. We released an independant cd "Paradise in the Heart of Dixie" in 2000, performing around the southeast United States, and as far away as Europe. After the duo, I put together a solo project titled "Heart Like a Highway" in 2005.After a brief move back to the Northwest in 2007, I'm back in Nashville, and looking forward to a new year in 2008. I am currently working on writing some new music and hoping to get a new project done by the summer. Thanks for stopping by and I'll keep ya'll posted, Rex
