About Me |
|
| Thaddeus Carlton says: Most people don’t understand the significance of The United States Of America finally allowing a Black man to be its President. This represents the rise to acceptance. We (Black people) have been enslaved, verbally degraded, discriminated against, murdered and stereotyped in America for centuries. All we generally get in response to our complaints regarding these issues is more of the same treatment or temporary consoling from a few sympathetic White people who tell us, “Things are getting better for Black people” or “America, love it or leave it!”. How can a White person who has not suffered at the hands of one of the most racist societies in the world possibly know if life conditions are getting better for Black people in the USA? Barack Obama’s nomination for The President Of The United States Of America is definite proof of the fact that things are getting better for Black people in this country! We’ve always been intelligent and charismatic. To rise from slavery to millionaires is a miraculous accomplishment, but having a Black man in “The White House” is the ultimate achievement! Remember, as recently as forty-three years ago, some states in the U.S. did not allow Black people to vote. It is very significant progress to see that this same nation that was practically built on prejudice is open-minded enough to choose a Black man for its leader. This is truly the definitive example of the manifestation of what the founding fathers of America meant when they said, “All Men Are Created Equal!” The struggle for Black people still continues, but for the first time in five decades, ‘Things Are Finally Getting Better!’ If you are not Black or another highly oppressed minority race, you may not understand what I am talking about. It is a pure pleasure to hear positive news about Barack Obama from the media. We’ve never experienced as much praise about ourselves before! Every race has its good and bad people, but if you listen to the way ‘we’ are talked about in public, you’d think we (Black people) were all bad! I can’t even mention the names of publicly humiliated Black people whose lives were destroyed by the White media because then my credibility will be ruined for supporting Black people that White people appear to hate. This is what we are taught in America. Don’t associate with controversial Black people. Finally, there is a Black man who is fireproof! His name is Barack Obama! Regardless of why you vote for him, whether you are sympathetic to Black people for their struggle and sub-human treatment from Maine to California, from Oregon to Florida and you finally want to “Give A Brother A Chance” or if you feel it is finally time for a real change in Washington, D.C., vote for Barak Obama! In accepting a Black man as the presidential nominee for a major political party, you have already shown intelligence, compassion and willingness to try something new. By electing Barack Obama to the office of President Of The United States you will help mend the wounds created by 500 years of racism. It won’t be a cure, but it is a beginning! VOTE FOR OBAMA! Music:Member Since: 5/18/2006Band Website: cdbaby.com/carlton17 Band Members: Me, Thaddeus Carlton and the band that accompanies me when I am on tour. Influences: I am influenced by Good Music...It doesn't matter who makes it! I am an equal opportunity listener and I appreciate every form of music whether it is classical (I love Beethoven and Mozart), Rock (I've been inspired by a rock band or two...Hip Hop (Some of the rappers tell it like it is and others are not as eloquent but that is apparent in all genres of music and art)...Pop (The Beatles and the Stones are great, some people put them in the Rock&Roll category but their music is geared more toward the 'Pop...take the money and run audience')...Country...What wonderful lyrics!!! They make you so sad that you wanna cry!!! "Those are my kids, that's my wife but who is that man livin' my life!!!"...Very melodramatic!!! My main musical influence comes from my soul roots...When I was five years old, my mother was so impressed that I never missed church on Sunday...Even when the family didn't attend, I'd go by myself...She soon found out that I went for the candy that they passed out at the end of the sermon, but somewhere between the commencement of church and the candy, I fell in love with church music! I used to love the excitement of just being in a Southern Baptist church...The choir was singing, the church goers were goin' crazy, as theywere 'overcome by the spirit', the preacher kept asking for another "Amen" and I was having a ball. The first time I heard the music of the Jackson 5, I knew that I would have a professional music relationship with the family and that affirmation came true! They taught me how a sharp, "keen" beat was so important and how attention to detail was mandatory. I guess basically, I have been somewhat affected by every group I've heard on the radio, but more so by the groups and acts that I have had professional contact with. My years of listening to and interacting with major groups who recorded at Larabee Sound in West Hollywood was very influential! Jackie Mills (the owner of Larrabee) was my first producer and I was practically part of his family so besides recording, I did whatever was needed around the studio facility, voluntarily, of course. I was fascinated by artists such as "Jellybean" Benitez, who worked on a project until it was perfect for the 'average listener'...So many producers want to "Pimp Out" their songs to the extent that the songs are so technically correct that only music 'snobs' can appreciate them,...Jellybean had a different philosophy...He always wanted the song to be simple. I recall one day when he was finishing up one of Madonna's hit songs, the guitar part was recorded too elaborately by a professional guitarist, so he brought in an amateur to re-record the track...Brilliant!!! My message to everyone in Life is "You Can Do Anything!" This is totally true! Mt entire Life is testimony to this fact as I have overcome many obstacles to Succeed! All you need to do is 'Start Doing Something Today' and most importantly, you must Believe in yourself! PEOPLE FAIL BECAUSE THEY ARE WAITING FOR 'THE RIGHT OPPORTUNITY' AND 'THE RIGHT TIME'! There is no right opportunity, there is no right time! THE RIGHT TIME IS NOW! The right opportunity reveals itself whenever you stop thinking small! GOD IS YOUR FATHER, YOUR INHERITANCE IS EVERYTHING! Don't sell yourself short because you can't comprehend how much potential you have! Whatever any human being can do, you can do it too! There is no goal too large and no amount of wealth that you are not worthy of! Many people say, "I don't want to be rich!" This is what people say just before they borrow a hundred bucks from you...again! Aren't they lucky that they know someone (you) who wants to be rich! It doesn't take more time to get rich, actually it takes less time than you already spend on working for your boss. The difference is, when you work for yourself, the boss is the first one hired and the last one fired! Working for yourself doesn't require more stress than being an employee, it just takes more courage!“Proud To Be American” Written by Thaddeus CarltonI had a Dream, that all men lived in Peace,And each man was my brother, no one lived in need.In my Dream, there was no prejudice or poverty,Everyone was truly equal, including you and me!I believe that this can really happen one day,‘Cause everything is possible, in the U.S.A.,…We can never give up, we’ve got to keep on trying,From citizens on the mainland, to soldiers overseas, their dying…We agree to disagree sometimes, but there’s one thing we understand-At the end of it all, WE’RE PROUD TO BE AMERICAN!I won’t forget, the day they brought us to our knees,September eleventh is still a nightmare to me.So many people died, I became American that day,How I cried for my lost brothers, who had suddenly passed away. They didn’t make us weaker, They made us stronger now you see-They made people of all Colors, Join in Unity!Thaddeus CarltoniTunescopyright September 11, 2001 Sounds Like: Thaddeus Carlton!!!
