| I have been writing and performing poetry for 15 years in venues all around Britain and in Los Angeles and Slovenia, at the inaugural Days of Poetry and Wine Festival in 1996. In case anyone's wondering, it's a very good combination. I released my first pamphlet of poems, Next Year in Jerusalem, in 2004 and even managed to get some reviews for it - no mean feat in the competitive world of poetry. Click here to read one from The Jewish Quarterly. I have poems appearing this year in Tears in the Fence magazine (see my friends list) and Jay Ramsay's anthology Into the Further Reaches, just released by PS Avalon press . I aim to have another pamphlet out soon. I'm available for performances at weddings, barmitzvahs, funerals, high days, holy days, end of days and new beginnings (also in bars, bookshops, clubs, pubs, festivals and living rooms). I am categorically not a member of the Beastie Boys but am currently poet in residence at Borkowski PR company's website, writing satirical poems about celebrities, politicians and other scoundrels. The poems/lyrics currently posted on this site are culled from there and are updated reasonably regularly. Obviously, very few people can make a living from poetry alone, so, as I am no exception, I also work as a editor/journalist for Glastonbury Festival's official website and any other freelance work I can lay my hands on. I've also worked as a barman, a bouncer, a sheep dipper, a silver service waiter (I was sacked for wearing trainers on the first day), and even, briefly, a local radio DJ to keep me in the poetry writing habit. |
