| The Stand Project was formed to provide all people, specifically, the younger generation a safe place to turn rather than the streets, where they can learn and grow into productive citizens. By providing education tools, such as book drives, reading clinics, after school programs and computer workshops, The Stand Project will reinforce the value of education and promote mental growth and well being. The Stand Project will provide youth mentoring programs and youth motivational speakers to serve as a guide for raising self awareness and self esteem. It is The Stand Project’s belief that providing the right combination of education, self worth and a reinforcement of moral values will enable today’s youth to compete in an ever evolving society. In addition, The Stand Project understands that lack of healthcare is a growing concern among the younger generation. As such, we will provide programs such as free HIV testing, blood drives and immunization drives to ensure the youth get the healthcare they not only deserve, but require. The Stand Project stands by their mantra “Bringing back love, faith and hope”, and it is our belief that by providing the aforementioned services, we can do just that. | |

| The Stand Project Programs SPIRITUALITY ”We can never obtain peace in the world if we neglect the inner world and don't make peace with ourselves. World peace must develop out of inner peace. Without inner peace it is impossible to achieve world peace, external peace.” – The Dalai Lama.The purpose of this program is to show people that there is a divine force within them.Focus:Positive Thinking, Daily Prayer & Meditation, Spiritual and Religious Beliefs. MONEY & FINANCIAL PLANNINGEarn all you can, save all you can, give all you can.” – Charles Wesley. The advantage of this program is that people will learn better cash handling skills. Including budgeting their money wisely, investing and how to achieve financial independence. As well as educate them on ways they can give back to their community.Focus:Budgeting, Investing, Contributions to Charity. PARENTS COMMUNICATING WITH THEIR CHILDREN“Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible -- the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.” – Virginia Satir. The purpose of this program will be to strengthen the relationship between parents and their children. What a child needs are their parents to talk and listen to them.Focus:Parent/Child Meetings, Effective Communication, Energy & Power Struggles. COMMUNICATION“The dead might as well try to speak to the living as the old to the young.” – Willa Cather. The purpose of this program is to have the young people talk to the old people and vice versa. Have different races and religions talking to each other. The advantage is we could be so much better people.Focus:Networking within the local community with various religious groups & organizations with similar goals to ours. GOAL PLANNING “What you can conceive & believe you can & will achieve!” – Dennis Kimbro. The purpose of this program is to have people develop action plans and time lines for their goals. Focus:Classes on setting goals and steps to achieving them.Follow up on actual progress on a weekly/monthly basis. READING“Hatred, intolerance, poor hygienic conditions and violence all have roots in illiteracy, so we're trying to do something to help the poor and the needy.” - Abdul Qadeer Khan. The purpose of this program is to help develop the reading skills of people. The advantage is, it will help with the illiteracy rate. Focus:Literacy classes, Book clubs. WORLD HISTORYHistory is a clock people use to tell their historical culture and political time of the day. It's a compass that people use to find themselves on the map of human geography. The history tells them where they have been, where they are and what they are. But most importantly history tells a people where they still must go and what they still must be" - Dr. John Henrik Clarke. The purpose of this program is to show the contributions and history of all races.Focus:Seminars/Classes on the origin of the human race,Greek & Roman Anthology, African Folklore, etc. CREATIVITY“Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.” - - Arthur Koestler. The purpose of this program is to have everyone showcase their talent and bring all of their creative genius to light.Focus:Art, Music, Poetry, Writing, Crafts. ABUSE“Child abuse cast a shadow the length of a lifetime.” – Herbert Ward. The purpose of this program is to bring more awareness to a problem that affects one out of every four child in a household.Focus:Counseling for abuse victims.Educate children how to protect themselves from abuse. HEALTH & NUTRITION"When you see the golden arches, you are probably on your way to the pearly gates." William Castelli, M.D.The purpose of this program is to provide awareness regarding the affects of poor eating habits & lack of exercise on the body.Focus:Seminars on proper eating habits. SEXUAL EDUCATION“Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.The purpose of this program is to provide awareness to the youth of the growing increase in sexually transmitted diseases and educate them on HIV/AIDS, as well as and teenage pregnancy.Focus:STD’s & HIV/AIDS awareness. |
