It all began back in the spring of ’99 in a small basement in Zurich. As time progressed, more and more parties were held and with time, mute.ch evolved to become one of the most important contributors to Swiss club culture. mute.ch is constantly in motion and currently consists of seven people. Our passion to achieve this aim is what brought us together; we want to bring back culture to the club. We want to provide entertainment by presenting music not solely in its aural dimension, but also in the context of visual entertainment. Since our first party, mute.ch has always strived to achieve the highest levels of quality possible.
In 2005 the label underwent some fundamental restructuring, having previously been not only a promoter, but also a dj collective, mute.ch decided to focus only on the promotion of events. We also decided to hold events outside of our home base of Zurich and have since been responsible for events in many of the larger cities of Switzerland. The most renowned party-series of mute.ch is the liquid nights imprint. This series has seen events being held regularly in Zurich (monthly) and Basel. The emphasis of this series lies on the soulful and deeper side of the drum and bass spectrum. mute.ch wants to provide a musical alternative to the progressively harder sounds coming out of many drum and bass outlets world wide. For a while, mute.ch focused only on the liquid nights events and drum and bass, but have since promoted several nights under the Magnet banner. Magnet encompasses all forms of techno existence - celebrated through maximising the use of all technological possibilities. Magnet pulls together what needs to be pulled together. The various corners of the modern club-scene combine to form an attractive mix above and beyond style categorisation. Electric disco adventures merge with never ending minimal tales and may end up in the happy end of a house story. The result is an exiting mix of sounds and styles which attracts the adventurous clubber like a magnet - leaving no desires left unsatisfied. At the same time mute.ch is fascinated by the emerging sounds of the “nu rave” movement, ultimately this combines all the different, much appreciated elements of club sounds and is taking the magnet philosophy one step further. Watch this space; who knows what the (party) future holds. Nine years of independent development, a dedication to our own beliefs and staying true to ourselves and our surroundings have defined who mute.ch are, these will also be the same factors that will define who we are and what we do in the future. |
