| Notes from the underground, nouvel album d'Elliott Murphy, 5 chansons co-écrites avec Olivier !Olivier Durand est né au printemps 67 dans le delta de la Seine, au Havre exactement, ville qui après avoir été totalement détruite pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, s’est reconstruite un peu à la façon des villes américaines, avec leurs rues à angle droit, jusqu’à devenir la ville Rock des années 80 ! Après avoir participé à différentes expériences de groupe et à différents postes (batteur/chanteur, bassiste et enfin guitariste/chanteur), Olivier croisera la route de Little Bob, et participera pendant 9 années à son histoire, rencontrant de nombreux musiciens avec qui, il entretient encore des relations musicales et amicales, Kenny Margolis (ex Mink De Ville, Smithereens…), JJ Holliday (Imperial Crowns, Blues Brothers) , Serge Teyssot-Gay et Jipé Nataf entre autres… C’est en participant à l’aventure Flag (avec Erik Houllemare,ex-City Kids et Florent Barbier ex-Roadrunners), qu’il rencontre Jérôme Soligny, et lorsqu’en janvier 1996, Elliott Murphy à la recherche d’un guitariste, demande à ce dernier, si il peut lui en recommander un, c’est sans hésitation qu’il lui donne le numéro de téléphone d’Olivier. Après une courte entrevue, rue Beauregard, une nouvelle histoire commence, (cela fait maintenant presque 12 années qu’elle dure) Olivier devient petit à petit le complice privilégié d’Elliott Murphy, enregistrant une douzaine d’albums (studio ou live), retrouvant pour l’occasion ses amis Kenny Margolis et Florent Barbier, jusqu’à monter un groupe « The Normandy All Stars » (Alan Fatras, ex-Scamps et Moon Martin, à la batterie et aux ch--urs et Laurent Pardo, ex-Kid Pharaon et Fata Morgana, à la basse, au violoncelle et aux ch--urs) afin d’accompagner Elliott. Malgré les tournées incessantes (essentiellement à travers l’Europe), il trouve le temps de participer à d’autres expériences comme enregistrer « Sencilla Alégria » avec Luz Casal (piensa en mi), faire des guitares pour des musiques de film ou de spectacle(Papa de Maurice Barthelémy ou le parc Asterix avec Philippe Morino), pour des jingles (Canal+ avec Florent Barbier et Stéphane Saunier, la pub avec Philippe Morino).Son jeu de guitare est devenu totalement personnel, émotionnel, de la slide sensuelle (écoutez « Pneumonia Alley ») aux cris rageurs ( « A Touch of Kindness » live), en passant par une touche gypsy ( « Eiffel Tower Blue »), guitare electro-acoustique Taylor ( 312ce) passant à travers divers effets ou totalement pure, Olivier Durand ne laisse pas insensible les amoureux de la six cordes , tout en restant au service de la chanson, de la musique !
