Fire My WordsMojoSoul is Carlos Ortiz, Dave Krska, Ray Mora and Juan Veliz: Carlos on guitar and vocals, Juan on bass, Ray on drums, and Dave on guitar and vocals. This remarkable foursome of friends has been making music together for three years since they started playing local jam sessions. Mojo Soul writes, sings, and plays music drawn from diverse sources, blending their influences into a seamless style. With influences in Tejano, rock, country, and of course, the blues legends of old, you can hear the passion and meld of styles in their music. Carlos and Dave grew up together in the same neighborhood in Edinburg, Texas. As lifelong friends, they both share a love of guitar playing. Ray Mora grew up in Pharr, Texas where he was surrounded by his older brothers, and sister, and a love of Musica Latina. He decided to be the drummer in the family, since the bajo-sexto and accordion were already taken. He is a well-traveled Tejano musician with a passion and professionalism for all music. Juan Veliz is from Edinburg, Texas which is where he grew up listening to 50s and 60s music and Latin music, and like the rest of the guys, has deep feelings for making music. A Vietnam veteran, Juan served his country well and his dedication to music inspired him to pick up the bass and learn the songs of Richie Valens and countless other B-Bop tunes from days gone by. Mojo Soul is a quartet of musicians who was looking for some kind of release from this 9 to 5 world we live in, and when they met each other two years ago, they found it; it was the Blues. |
