Music:Member Since: 01/06/2006Band Website: http://www.dtgproductions.com Band Members: Producer: Leslie Bloome Influences: Any and All great music. To me, that means a track that is sonically stimulating, with a driving groove and a powerful melody, yet banging mix. Today, more than ever, with the onslaught of inexpensive home recordings and the fact that the majority of listeners will be enjoying your music on their mp3 players, a mix designed to be listened to via ipod is becoming more and more important. That means tracking the song properly with a full spectrum of EQ. Creating a wide mix utilizing space with out stepping on other instruments. And mostly a good clean track with life and emotion. This by far is the hardest thing to capture in the studio. For most bands and musicians, letting go on stage is second nature but in the studio, for some reason, the music becomes sterile and lacking of emotion. What we try to do is make the artist and band feel at home and relaxed. Letting go of the stress of recording the "perfect performance" and instead record the performance with all the soul and emotion that the band gets while they are playing in front of their fans. Most of you who are reading this are musicians and you know what I am talking about. Think about rehearsing the same song three to five times or more. The first and second play through the band was pumped and grooving. But when you get to the fifth, six, seventh take at a song, all the life has been played out of it and now the band is simply going through the motions. The same holds true in a recording session. The key to a sucsessful recording is to be able to track the bulk of the song in one to three takes and then punch any trouble spots where ever nessesary.
