| C.H.R.O.M.E's Biography:C.H.R.O.M.E. was born a native of Jamaica October 14, 1980 and moved to Miami Florida when he was about 7 years old. Left fatherless while his mother raised him, his sister, and brother had a great affect on his life. As a result he started hanging with older guys looking for a fatherly figure which most of the guys he hung with were street boys out for a lavish lifestyle the wrong way. In a sense the streets and music became his role model. By the time he was 12 years old he started taking trips in and out Juvenile jail and smoking weed with coke in it trying to fit in with the crowd he hung with. This Drug addiction pushed him into a number of bad behaviors like skipping school, selling drugs and robbing to support his lifestyle. By the time he was seventeen he had a child on the way and was on his way to prison for armed burglary. He got locked up September 1997 and by his 18th birthday which was October 14, 1998 he got sentenced to 56 months in prison. In prison he did a lot of gambling which resulted in a lot of problems but overall prison reminded him of the streets only with boundaries. Writing raps in prison was one of the ways he dealt with a lot of internal pain he was feeling mostly being absent from his daughter and lost of his freedom in general. Once released from prison his life got worse instead of changing, he started back with the same ignorant behaviors which got him put in prison the first time. Eventually his mother kicked him out the house because of all the trouble he was giving. Living out on the streets he became even worse. During this time he believes God was speaking to him because he began to see how he was destroying his life. After a while he was tired of running and checked his self into a Christian Drug Rehab at 23 years old called Faith Farm, which is where his change was brought about. A lot of the raps he wrote in prison were filled with violence and negativity, which rap itself, was one of his main influences in his life while growing up. God showed C.H.R.O.M.E. that he would have to throw away all the old songs due to the power of words and their influence, which for him was a major sacrifice. God changed the meaning of C.H.R.O.M.E.’s name which before stood for Causing Havoc Regularly On My Enemies but now it stands for Christ Has Really Opened My Eyes. Ever since his drastic change, God has been using C.H.R.O.M.E. to do a great work in this generation. His evangelistic and testimonial style of rapping has greatly influenced this generation on such events as, Miami’s own Zoe’s Summer Groove, Alliance Against Violence with Florida’s Senator Fredricka Wilson and Ft.Lauderdale’s Antiviolence Music Empowerment Concert and much, much more. This is one artist definitely called to influence this generation with street linguistics and music for the church and the streets.
