Paul was nominated for the Felix Leclerc award in 2007, along side some of Quebecs best talent. As an Anglo Montrealer, it is a huge honour to be nominated for this award. Cargnello also garnered the Alex Soria Fountains Award for Best Singer-Songwriter-Performer at the 2005 MIMI awards. These were a watershed for a career developed and honed from the ground up, where Paul's personal vendetta upon the music scene was to be himself above all else. Marked by political activism, powerful lyricism, and an eclectic blend of musical styles, Paul has stayed true to a city that has influenced his now distinct sound that can only be labeled as Montrealaise. Cargnello's urban and edgy reggae-rock is backed by solid musicianship that can be transcended to the streets of any major city. There is a feel to his music as if you are stepping out with him onto the city streets and seeing the world around you for the first time. Cargnello has the ability to take you to an intimate and poetic place in the same tradition of the great troubadours and chansonniers before him. In that same tradition, it is the public that has come forward to nourish and sustain his career marked by conviction and integrity. Choosing to write and perform in both French and English, his first three albums Lightweight Romeo, Between Evils and Live Au Va Et Vient all achieved critical acclaim. Paul has decided to build the bridge between "les deux solitudes" one album at a time. The highly anticipated Brûler Le Jour is his first album written almost entirely in French, with only one song in his mother tongue. français L'auteur-compositeur prolifique, Paul Cargnello, a été reconnu par la ville où il s'est non seulement établi sa vie, mais où il a tiré son inspiration. Paul a été nominé pour le prix Félix Leclerc en 2007 au côté de certains des meilleurs talents Québécois. C'est un immense honneur d'être en nomination pour ce prix, surtout pour un anglophone de Montréal. Aussi, Cargnello a recueilli le Prix Alex Soria Fountains pour le meilleur auteur-compositeur-interprète au gala MIMI en 2005. Ces évènements ont été des moments critiques pour une carrière qui est en développement dès son adolescence, quand Paul a fait sa vendetta personnelle sur le monde de la musique en insistant d'être lui-même, avant tout. Influencé par l'activisme politique, un lyrisme puissant, et un mélange éclectique de styles musicaux, Paul a resté fidèle à une ville qui a formé le caractère, maintenant distinct et reconnaissable, de sa musique, laquelle on ne peut qualifier que de Montréalaise. Le folk-rock urbain et sensible de Cargnello est soutenue par un sens musical plein, lequel peut être accueilli dans les rues de n'importe quelle grande ville. Sa musique vous donne la sensation de sortir avec lui dans les rues de la ville et de voir le monde autour de vous pour la première fois. Cargnello a la capacité de vous porter à un endroit intime et poétique dans la tradition des grands troubadours et chansonniers d'auparavant. En accord avec cette même tradition, c'est le public qui s'est rassemblé autour de lui pour nourrir et soutenir sa carrière, laquelle il a poursuivie avec conviction et intégrité.
