The story so far 2008 Release of "Blood Mystery" Introducing the first part of a magical trilogy "Blood Mystery". This is not about blood sucking plush vampires or knife stabbing mass murderers, rather than the mysterious elixir of life, it is about the queen of blood. Passionate and pulsating, nightmarish and unleashing, enraged and lamenting, the audience better prepares for a breathtaking journey to the source of life. 2008 Video of "Blood Mystery" The first Greifenkeil Video, shot in March this year featuring the header of our forthcoming release "Blood Mystery". 2008 Release of "Imagination" A single track, arranged at the request of ArtVera. This track is available to all our visitors as free download, and for our registered users also as CDR, incl. cover art. 2007 Release of "NoChristmas Song" Two track "Christmas gift, available for all our visitors as free download, and for our registered users also as CDR, incl. coverart. 2007 Release of "Symbol Bonus EP" Album with 5 tracks, only available for registered users of the Ltd. Collectors Edition 2007 Greifenkeil Performance @ Amphi Festival 2007 Release of the album: "Symbol" The journey continues: a deep dive into the archaic grounds of the European culture. The inspiration of this album came about through archeological discoveries made in 2005 in Germany and Austria, because of which it is known now, that the European culture is at least 7000 years old. Symbol is presented similar to a play; it contains 3 acts, seperated topics guiding through the journey, as well as an introductory prologue and a concluding epilogue. The acts are namely: time - signs (prologue), grief (act 1), passage (act 2), reunion (act 3), circle - signs (epilogue). The journey is presented through 11 tracks, and will be performed live in a fashion relating to these topics. "Symbol" will be available in 2 versions: - as Digipack with the CD "Symbol" enveloped by exceptionally inspiring artwork, and the lesser tactile trigger. - as Limited Special Edition in large format with the CD "Symbol", an additional CD containing various remixes, a special booklet containing poetry and artwork, as well as the small and large tactile triggers. 2006 Debut Album: "Greifenkeil" Lays the foundation of Greifenkeil’s unique sound and starts the journey through themes deeply hidden in our culture. The album itself was present for 8 weeks in the German GEWC Album Charts. Peak 3 Irina, the single track was present for 10 weeks in the German GEWC Single Charts. Peak 4 Even more, without any apparent promotion the album entered the German DAC briefly in August 2006, which until today remains mysterious to us. 2005 "Moog EP" Concept EP about the vision and inventions of Robert Moog and what could have been - musically. Nearly all instruments used (on this EP) are Moog synthesizers. Greifenkeil Greifenkeil is a credo of artistic individuality, contrary to the common tendencies of categorizing music into various, partially confusing styles. Greifenkeil connects with the source of the Independent Underground in relation to creativity, to unity in diversity. Most importantly Greifenkeil connects to the demanding muse, the source of all sounds..... where each sound is born from and returns to - the womb of her primordial, creative Inspiration... Industrial - Ritual, Archaic - Ambient - PsyTrance Essential for Greifenkeil is the combination of elements from Ambient and Ritual with rhythms and arrangements from Industrial or PsyTrance styles. All of these contain the material inseparable, and indispensable for arrangements. Nowadays categorized as Techno and Industrial, Greifenkeil mainly uses archaic, ecstatic-shamanistic rhythms, that can carry the listener into the depths of their own selves, as it was done in ancient times. The creation of these rhythms is therefore definitely not a novelty, but a primordial part of western culture. Greifenkeil therefore has no intention whatsoever to create cold music! Psycho-Acoustic Performance Art, Mystic Sounds and MP3s Between the lines, less dominant and ostensible the soundscapes of Greifenkeil come about. Being present in most tracks, they reach out and touch the senses, abducting the audience into worlds long forgotten. Into worlds which are still present, yet dormant as essential parts of our flesh, blood and souls. For that intent Greifenkeil employs sounds which have the capacity to reach these layers, which are therefore working more on an intuitive, mystical or magical level. In our modern time termed "psycho-acoustic", are these mystical sounds capturing away to the beyond of the ordinary. Greifenkeil therefore is "psychoactive" or "psychotropic", inviting to journey. As known to the interested audience, to illustrate this with an example, these sounds consist of vibrations in the frequency of brainwaves, by which deeper states of perception, intuitive states of being can be reached. Described in terms for music production, specific sounds of ambient textures and drones are used which are less apparent, as the usually dominating melodies and beats of tracks. Within our audio material, they are sort of in-between the general waypoints of sounds. If these acoustic creations of Greifenkeil finally are being rendered as mp3, all of these get lost and Greifenkeil becomes Lo-Fi...., thus the heart of Greifenkeil is taken away.
Performers A. von Greifenkeil: Vocals, Machines, Arrangements, Lyrics Electronic music has always been companion and inspiration to him. Since 1997 he instantiates projects in regard to light, dance, and sound. In addition he intensively engages in the restoration and mastering of audio. Instead of becoming an environmentalist or resistance fighter, he already started in his early years by searching for alternatives,that can cause changes to the outside in other, more substantial ways. That way this project was born as a spin-off product of many years of experience with archaic forms of meditation and shamanistic practices. A. von Greifenkeil is a trained druid, a sort of priest and holder of a pre-christian, proto-celtic tradition. He is also fully-trained and experienced in holistic medicine (he holds a state certified degree in Naturopathy), and acts as a poet and author. The Sirens / The Banshees Voices, Vocals, Sounds, Effects, Movement, Assistance Organizing and assisting, criticising, crucial and full of ideas, inspiring, correcting, dominating and submissive. Without their helpful presence and influence, the realisation of this and other projects would have remained in the drawer. Performers wanted Further Sirens / Banshees are indispensable for bringing our project further...
